Principal's Report

A Calm, Focused and Purposeful Start to Term 1
We have commenced Term 1 with a calm, orderly and highly purposeful start. The tone across the college has been positive and focused, with classrooms settled and students engaging productively in their learning from the very first day.
This year, we are sharpening our focus on the KSC Instructional Model, with particular attention to the Enabling Learning dimension of the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model (VTLM 2.0). When the conditions for learning are structured, predictable, and consistent, students are free to focus fully on the intellectual demands of the lesson.
Across every classroom, we have embedded consistent organisational practices:
Seating plans in all classes
Clear and structured entry and exit routines
Agreed teacher language to secure attention
– "Tracking Me in 3, 2, 1"
This shared language ensures that every student knows precisely when to pause and give their full attention. It removes ambiguity, reduces cognitive load, and maximises learning time. When routines are predictable, students can direct their full cognitive capacity toward thinking, analysing, and learning.
Teachers are also completing GPA Progress Reports (GPA most commonly stands for Grade Point Average) using a common rubric across the college.
This rubric assesses four foundational learning behaviours:
Brings correct equipment to class
Is punctual to class
Respects the learning of others
Shows effort in class activities
Completion of set tasks
These behaviours are the building blocks of academic success. Organisation, punctuality, effort, and respect directly influence achievement outcomes. The GPA reports provide clear, consistent feedback to students and families about the habits that underpin strong learning growth and allow us to provide timely support where needed.
Uniform Policy KSC 2026
We are also reinforcing our school uniform policy, developed in consultation with our community and endorsed by School Council in 2025.
Wearing the full college uniform fosters belonging, strengthens school identity and ensures students are dressed safely and appropriately for all activities. We remain committed to supporting families who may require assistance, while maintaining high and consistent expectations for all students.
Early Departure Policy
Finally, I ask families to support us in protecting valuable learning time. Students should not be collected from school early at short notice. The college has clear processes for early departures, and we require advance notice wherever possible.
We understand that specialist medical appointments can sometimes only be secured during school hours due to limited availability. In these instances, we ask that families notify the college in advance so we can prepare and minimise disruption to classes.
Other appointments should be scheduled outside school hours. Arriving unannounced and requesting immediate collection disrupts learning, places pressure on administrative processes, and can compromise supervision arrangements.
Our shared goal is simple: to maximise every minute of teaching and learning time. Your cooperation in this matter ensures that classrooms remain calm, focused, and uninterrupted.
The settled start to the year is intentional. It reflects our collective commitment to high expectations, consistency, and strong support for every student.
Thank you.
