College Principal Report

A Great Start to the Year at Keysborough College
It has been a fantastic start to the school year, with both campuses welcoming over 200 new Year 7 students. This strong intake reflects the growing reputation of Keysborough College as a school of choice for families in our community. With our enrolments now exceeding 2,000 students, we have also welcomed more than 30 new teachers and support staff. This talented group includes both experienced educators and enthusiastic graduates who have settled in extremely well. It has been great to see them embracing the culture of our school so quickly.
At Keysborough College, we are committed to maintaining a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environment for all students. As part of our core values – respect, excellence and diversity – we uphold a zero-tolerance approach to racism. Every student deserves to feel safe and valued at school, and we continue to work proactively to reinforce this commitment through education, awareness and clear expectations.
We are pleased to invite families to a community event, the "Supporting Success" Parent Forum, which will be held at the Acacia Campus Theatre on Thursday 13th March from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. This session will focus on how families can support students in key areas such as attendance and wellbeing. We know that strong family-school partnerships are essential in ensuring students thrive, and this is just the beginning of a renewed focus on community engagement. Throughout the year, we will be hosting more information sessions, workshops and events to provide support on a range of topics relevant to our students and their families, as well as some fun community events too. We encourage all parents and carers to take advantage of these opportunities to stay connected and involved. Banksia families are welcome to attend.
With the school year well underway, I’d also like to take this opportunity to remind families to take extra care during drop-off and pick-up times. These are particularly busy periods of the day, and we ask all drivers to remain patient, follow traffic rules and be mindful of students, pedestrians and other road users. Safety is our priority, and we appreciate everyone’s cooperation in ensuring a smooth and safe experience for all.
As we move further into Term 1, I want to thank our students, staff and families for their positivity and commitment to making Keysborough College an outstanding place to learn. There is so much to look forward to this year, and I encourage everyone to embrace the challenges and opportunities ahead, applying our RED values to each day.
I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events.
Warm regards,
Mr Aaron Sykes
