Principal's Patch

Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope this message finds you well as we settle back into the school routine after what has been a challenging time for our community.
Cyclone Alfred
Firstly, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all of our families and the wider community for your support and understanding while our school was closed due to Cyclone Alfred. Your patience and co-operation made a difficult situation much easier to manage.
I hope all of our families fared well during the cyclone, and if your homes or properties sustained any damage, I sincerely hope you are on the way to a quick recovery.
This week, we have had Q-Build contactors on-site working hard to rectify the damage caused to our school, and we are pleased to report that things are progressing well.
Parking in Eden Academy
We work closely with Eden Academy to maintain a positive partnership, and they have reached out to us regarding parking in their car park. We kindly ask that our school parents refrain from parking there. Eden Academy has limited spaces intended for families dropping off and collecting their young children from day care. When our parents park in their spaces, it creates significant inconvenience for their families. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
P&C AGM – Monday 24th March
Our P&C Annual General Meeting will be held on Monday night, 24th March, in the staffroom. The meeting will begin at 6:00 pm. We would love to see many parents and carers join us for this important event. The P&C plays a vital role in supporting our school, and this is a great opportunity to get involved and help shape the future of our school community.
Uniform Reminder
A friendly reminder about our school uniform policy, particularly around jewellery and shoes:
Jewellery: For safety reasons, students are not permitted to wear necklaces. Earrings should be simple plain studs or sleepers only.
Shoes: Students are required to wear all black shoes as part of our uniform policy.
We appreciate your support in helping us maintain a safe and respectful learning environment.
E-Bikes
We have noticed an increase in students riding E-Bikes to school. There have also been reports of students doubling friends or siblings on these bikes. We remind families that according to Queensland law, children must be at least 16 years old to ride an E-Bike.
For more information, you can refer to the Queensland Government guidelines here:

NAPLAN
Over the past week, our Year 3 and Year 5 students have participated in NAPLAN testing. We are incredibly proud of the effort, resilience, and positive attitude they demonstrated throughout the assessments.
A huge thank you to our dedicated teachers who worked hard to prepare our students and ensure the testing ran smoothly. We appreciate the support from families in helping our students feel calm and confident during this time.
Please take the time to talk with your children about these safety regulations to ensure they are travelling to and from school responsibly.
