Josh Burns MP

Josh Burns Came to St Joseph’s by Zach C
On Friday, the 31st of January, Josh Burns kindly came to St Joseph’s. As both of the Year 6 classes came into the room and sat down, Josh greeted us and explained how he was part of the Labor Party and held the seat of McNamara.
We told him about us going to Canberra and all the fun things we are doing, like going ten-pin bowling, visiting Old Parliament House and New Parliament House. He even said that he’d meet us at Parliament! He can meet us because we are lucky enough to go to Canberra when they are sitting in Parliament! No other time has St Joseph’s been lucky enough to be going on camp when Parliament is sitting.
Did you know that there is a green bell, and when it rings, everyone in Parliament has four minutes to make their way to a room? If they don’t, they don’t get to vote on something, like whether a bill gets passed or not! The reason it is four minutes is so that the politicians don’t get told what to vote for.
Then he said his goodbyes and left.
