Take a look inside the lessons... Written by Elias Challhoub

Year 7 Orientation Day

On Monday 3rd of February, our Year 7 students had their Orientation Day, supported by our dedicated Pastoral Team and fantastic Year 10 Peer Support Leaders. It was a great opportunity for them to explore the high school, make connections, and ease into secondary school life. We wish them all the best as they embark on this exciting new journey.

Year 9 Food Technology: Bon appetite

Year 9 Food Technology had their first practical experience with Mrs Botros by baking a classic scone!

With no doubt the B-block was permeating the most mouth-watering aromas activating staff and student's hypothalamus and making them feel quite hungry for some scones!

Key learning areas such as food, personal and environmental hygiene, measuring accurately, following a recipe and presenting food to industry standards were all achieved. By the end of the lesson students were able to apply their skills and knowledge to produce 3 types of scones. Can you guess what they are?

Cultural Insights: Year 8 HSIE

Our inquisitive visiting Chinese international students taught us about the significance of lanterns in Lunar New Year celebrations!

Year 8 HSIE discovered a common Maronite value- the importance of family!

2 Jade: The Power of Self-Portraits

2 Jade's self-portraits beautifully reflect the belief that each person is created in God's image and loved by Him.

These artworks remind us that we are more than what can be seen, as we are all known and cherished by God. Art is a powerful way to explore and express our unique identities and spiritual connections.

2 Jade's creative expression encourages us to embrace our individuality and celebrate the love we receive from our Creator.

Number lines with 1 Green

Our students in 1 Green are working on understanding the order and patterns of numbers, using fun and engaging activities to build their skills. Through hands-on exercises, they’ve learned how to sequence numbers, recognise patterns, and solve problems by following specific orders.

It's been amazing to see their confidence grow as they begin to master the foundational concepts that will support their future mathematical learning.

Keep up the great work, 1 Green!

Kindy Red Sorting

Kindy Red had fun sorting blocks by colour, grouping them into piles like red, blue, yellow, and green. This activity helped them practice colour recognition and fine motor skills as they handled the blocks. They worked together, discussing which blocks belonged in which pile and sharing ideas. Sorting by colour also introduced them to the concept of categorizing and organizing objects, building foundational skills for future learning.

Class of the Week: 2 Diamond

At the first primary assembly, 2 Diamond was announced to be the first class of the week in the 2025 school year! Well done to the students in 2 Diamond.

What a great way to start the year!

Kindy Rose Mathematics

Kindergarten Rose is having fun learning about patterns through hands-on activities with counters!

They are exploring and creating AB patterns, which help them understand the concept of repeating sequences. This activity encourages their critical thinking and problem-solving skills while allowing them to engage with math in a creative and interactive way.

By practicing with different colours and shapes, the students are building a strong foundation for understanding patterns, which will be essential for their future learning in math.

Year 7 Technology 1 Playing with Pixels

Mrs Bou-Melhem's Year 7 Technology are learning about how data is presented in digital systems. We focused on images and pixels. Students were then challenged to replicate the front cover of the college diary using pixel art.

They understood the relationship between pixels and image resolution.

We look forward to seeing the end product.

Kindy White Watercolour Painting

Kindergarten White is diving into a creative project inspired by their shared reading book! The students are using water coulor paints to bring a dragon to life, connecting their love for storytelling with artistic expression. As they paint, they are practicing fine motor skills and learning about colour blending and techniques.

This hands-on activity not only enhances their creativity but also deepens their engagement with the story, allowing them to visualize and connect with the characters in a fun, interactive way.

9.2 Science Experiment

Mrs Bousleiman's 9.2 Science class performing a kidney dissection experiment as part of their Body systems topic. The students were able to identify and describe the functions of different parts of the kidney.

Collaboration in Stage 1

Kindy Blue and Year 2 Diamond collaborated in the new H Block. Students were engaged in the shape monster activity. Year 2 made the Kindy students feel welcomed and safe in their learning space.

Kindy Red Subitising

Kindergarten Red worked in small groups to practice subitising by identifying dot patterns and using them to create cup stacks.

This fun activity helped the students quickly recognise quantities without counting, building their number sense and improving their visual perception skills.

By working together in groups, they also developed teamwork and communication skills while reinforcing their understanding of numbers. The hands-on approach made learning both interactive and engaging, setting a strong foundation for future math concepts.

Year 9 Textiles: Fashion Drawings

Year 9 students are diving into the world of fashion illustration as they experiment with fashion figures and various rendering techniques. This creative process allows them to explore different styles and discover their unique artistic voice. By experimenting with different techniques, the students are learning how to bring their fashion ideas to life on paper, while also finding inspiration from various sources to influence their designs.

Imaginative Writing with Year 2

Year 2 have been exploring imaginative writing, developing their storytelling skills in creative ways. In 2 Purple, students were given different scenarios and worked in groups to craft engaging complications. Using the Pebble, Rock, Boulder structure, they built up their ideas step by step, adding depth and excitement to their stories.
