This Fortnight In Literacy
By Zavier 6SC
In this fortnight of literacy, students have been exploring the book The Lost Thing, by Shaun Tan. We will be using this text for the whole of term 1. Students read the book then dove deeper to really understand the text. So far we have explored what we ‘see, think and wonder’, learnt about the utopian and dystopian themes, and deciphered the hidden symbolism. Students have enjoyed the book so far and are ready to explore the next chapter!
This Fortnight In Numeracy
By Daniel 6SB
We have been excited to finish off our exploration of statistics by completing a Rich Task. We began by using data to create a graph. We then had to modify the graph to make it misleading. We have also started to explore the order of operations in numerous equations, enhancing our maths skill and knowledge.
This Fortnight in Leadership
By Poppy and Eleanor 6SB
In leadership this fortnight we have been working in our pillars.
The Arts Pillar has been working hard to produce an activity for all the CLaS groups.
The Health Pillar has been busy setting up for Interschool Sport.
The Library and Languages Pillar has been learning how to return, borrow and shelve books. They, like the Arts Pillar, have been brainstorming for a future CLaS activity.
Meanwhile, the Admin Pillar has been creating the newsletter and working on the assembly slides, public speaking and their writing skills
In the Wellbeing Pillar, they have been helping out with the younger grades to create a mini-movie about friendship. They have also been helping them to learn about forming ideas, writing, spelling, and listening.
Last but certainly not least, the Environment Pillar has been working with the Grade 5s to improve our school’s environment, by cleaning up leaves, teaching them about taking care of the stick insects, chickens and Guinea pigs.
We interviewed Mrs Ballot about KGT and you can find it on the Environment page.
We are very proud to be accepting our leadership badges at assembly this week. In the assembly we received our badges, told the school about our responsibilities and recited our Leadership Pledge. We can't wait to show you what wonderful leaders we are of BPPS.
I am proud to accept the position of Year Six leader of Boroondara Park Primary School.
Throughout the year I will do my best to uphold Boroondara's values of care, learn and share.
I will be co-operative, helpful and courteous towards other students, parents and teachers.
As a leader, I will be a positive role model to younger students and work with my pillar to make BPPS a great place to learn.
This is my promise.

Let It Grow Incursion
This week, 5/6 students participated in the Let It Grow Incursion. We worked collaboratively to explore our strengths and cultivate a positive classroom culture. Through hands-on activities, we designed and constructed our own terrariums—each layer representing key values like teamwork, respect, and responsibility that help their community grow.
