Dear Marian Catholic College Community,
Welcome to Term 1 2025!
This year, 2025, is the Jubilee Year of Hope. This is a special time in the Catholic Church that emphasises God's mercy, forgiveness, and the call to renewal. Pope Francis teaches us that “hope… is a divine gift that empowers us to trust in God’s promises and navigate the complexities of life with confidence and resilience. Hope is essential for a meaningful
life, providing the strength to face difficulties and the assurance of God’s unwavering
love and mercy.”
We commence this year acknowledging the traditional custodians of the land on which Marian Catholic College rests, the Wiradjuri People, and acknowledge their deep, abiding and continued spiritual connection to country.
We also make a very special welcome to our new Year 7 cohort, all new students in years 8-12 and to new teachers: Mr. Channa Phillip, Ms. Fapiola Uoifaleleha, Mr. Glen Culling, Mr. Kamal Medabala, Mr. Bipin John, Mr. Alex Forrest, and Mrs. Katie Fletcher.
Last Friday (7/2), we held the first formal whole school assembly of the year. The assembly had two main goals:
A heartfelt congratulations to our teachers, leaders, staff, and families for their collective effort in supporting the academic success of our students in 2024. Marian Catholic College once again excelled in the HSC results, a testament to the hard work of all involved.
The College Dux for 2024, Dahlia Abbas achieved an impressive ATAR of 97.1, and the All-Rounder Award winner Mia Catanzariti received outstanding results of five Band 6/E4 results. Altogether six Marian students attained an ATAR of over 90 these included Georgia Salmon, Olivia Croce, Tahlia Sully, and Savannah Vecchio. Other students recognized for their exceptional achievements included Amilia Catanzariti, Liliana Rokov, Renina Abayon, and Mason Salvestro.
Overall, Marian Catholic College saw 22 Distinguished Achiever awar, alongside 87 Band 5/E3 results. These achievements reflect the dedication of students, staff, and families, and we congratulate each of you on your hard-earned success.
We also acknowledge the success and achievements of all of our graduates, many of whom have gone on to further training, work, travel and other opportunities that will allow them to flourish in the future. This is a result of years of commitment and hard work on behalf of all Year 12 students, through the support of their families and teachers. We are incredibly proud of each graduating student from 2024.
To our new College Captains, Vice Captains, and student leaders, and to all students, from Year 7 to 12, may the example set by Year 12 2024 inspire you to aim high and strive for excellence. With faith, hard work, and a focus on care for your community, you are equipped to succeed in any challenge you face. Let the values instilled in you at Marian: faith in God, respect for others, and a dedication to learning, service, and stewardship. guide you this year.
I would like to acknowledge our teachers and support staff for their continuous dedication and hard work. We look forward to a bright and hopeful year ahead. A year where, working in partnership with parents and carers, we educate our students in the Catholic tradition and the Marian Way. We conclude with a special Jubilee Year of Hope Prayer.
God our Father,
Thank you for your endless grace,
And for Jesus, who shows us your embrace.
Guide us to be faithful and wise,
Spreading your love beneath the skies.
As we journey on with hope in our hearts,
May we share the Holy Spirit, your light in every part.
For your glory and praise, now and forever,
Amen.
