Mario Kart Club: Students vs. Teachers Showdown!
Last term, our Year 3 and 4 students had one big idea: Mario Kart Club. And when the students speak, we listen! Week by week, the competition heated up as racers zoomed through the track, dodging banana peels and throwing red shells with the kind of determination that only Mario Kart can inspire.
In a true celebration of house spirit, students battled it out across four heats to crown the ultimate Year 3 and Year 4 champions. The highs and lows of the tournament saw students cheering, encouraging, and building resilience when faced with those pesky shells.
Here are our winners:
Year 3
🏎 Irwin House: Malha
🏎 Stynes House: Aaren
🏎 Freeman House: Mohammed
🏎 Newton House: Blake
🏆 Year 3 Champion: Blake
Year 4
🏎 Irwin House: Kayla
🏎 Stynes House: Henry
🏎 Freeman House: Zach
🏎 Newton House: Jayden
🏆 Year 4 Champion: Zach
The teachers threw their hats (and controllers) into the ring! Eight brave staff members stepped up, but only two could advance to the final showdown – Ms. Gauci and Reginald. With the crowd roaring and chants echoing through the school, our Year 3 and Year 4 champions, Blake and Zach, prepared to defend student honour in the ultimate race of Students vs. Teachers.
In the final race, the tension was high. Reginald (graciously) claimed he “took it easy” on the kids, while Ms. Gauci claimed forgetting her special controller at home was the reason for her loss. But none of that mattered – the students rose to the occasion! Zach crossed the finish line in 1st place, followed by Blake in 2nd, leaving the teachers in their digital dust.
Well done to all our racers, and a special thanks to the teachers for being good sports! Who knows what gaming adventures await us next, let Mrs. Meissner know your ideas!
Lunchtime Clubs at Brookside College for Term 1!
At Brookside College, we are committed to fostering student wellbeing and engagement. Our lunchtime clubs provide a more structured and supportive environment during breaks, where students can connect with staff and form new friendships with peers.
Below is the Term 1 Lunchtime Club Schedule—there’s something for everyone!
In addition to these scheduled clubs, we’ll also host spontaneous pop-up clubs such as house games, stay-and-eat lunchtime programs and more!
Have a club idea? We’d love to hear it! Speak to Mrs. Meissner or your future Student Voice Captain to share your suggestions.
Keep an eye out in newsletters to come, where we’ll spotlight different clubs and celebrate the fun and connections they create.
We look forward to seeing students getting involved and making the most of these fantastic opportunities!
