Technology at SJW
In 2022, Fundraising efforts by our wonderful school community have enabled us to purchase and use many innovative technologies such as Lego Spike, Sphero Bolts, Lego Kits and a 3D printer. Over the last two years, staff at St Joseph the Worker have explored the use of these plugged and unplugged devices and how to integrate them into classroom practice.
In Discovery this term, students in JLA have had the opportunity to further develop their computer skills in the Technology Lab using PowerPoint, explored simple Lego kits that enhance our learning dispositions and worked with Sally to use Scratch to code a game.
MLA students have learnt about different Peripheral Devices that input, output or store data. They also completed challenges with Sphero Bolts using the drive commands or block coding.
SLA students have created a 3D key tag design for all Staff in 2025 and for upcoming students in Year 3 that will hang on their laptop bag. They have also worked with Sally and Makey Makey circuits to connect everyday items to a keyboard. They have researched conductive materials to assist them on this fun learning journey.
