Dear Parents and Carers,
Since I last communicated to everyone in our newsletter in Week 3, our school has been involved in ongoing learning and special events. As we race towards the end of the school year, it is important to continue to recognise those small, but significant moments of joy that happen every minute of every day in our school. St Joseph’s is a place filled with joy and wonder each day and we are so blessed to be part of this.
I was so impressed with the way our 2025 Kinder students transitioned over the last four weeks. They were very settled and it seemed like they had been at the school for months before. I was particularly humbled by the way our senior students supported and cared for these children who will become their buddies next year. A huge thank you to Mrs Brady and Ms Moran for their care of the students and organisation of each transition day. We look forward to welcoming our Kinder 2025 students on Wednesday 5th February, 2025.
I had the privilege of accompanying our school captains , Vice Captains and Fr Paddy to the Remembrance Day Memorial Service on the 11th November at the Junee Cenotaph. Our students proudly represented our school and paid tribute to those men and women who fought in World War 1 and other world conflicts to afford us the freedom we have today as Australians.
Mrs Maloney's Appointment for 2025
On Tuesday an announcement was sent to parents regarding the appointment of Mrs Simone Maloney as school principal to St Brendan’s, Ganmain. Our whole school community are excited for Mrs Maloney’s new position and wish her well. St Brendan’s gain is our loss and we are extremely blessed for the time we have had Mrs Maloney at St Joseph’s.
The recruitment for a new Assistant Principal has begun and we are hoping to finalise this soon.
A Family Christmas Movie Night
We welcome all families for a Christmas movie night at the Athenium Theatre tonight. The movie screened is ‘Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas’. The doors will open at 5.15pm for people to purchase anything from the candy bar and find their seats. There is no cost to watch the movie and I would like to thank Junee Shire Council for allowing us to hold this event in the Athenium.
All children must be accompanied by an adult this evening and Pyjamas are the dress code!!
Bede & Mona Hart Memorial Trust Scholarship
A compass reminder was sent out yesterday to remind families that applications for the Bede and Mona Hart Memorial Trust Scholarship will close at 3.30pm on Tuesday 26th November, 2025. The successful recipient will be announced at our Annual Presentation Day Monday 16th December starting at 9am.
Lost Property
We have a considerable amount of lost property that has been left at the school of late. There are plenty of sports jackets, drink bottles and other items of clothing. We ask that you please label your child’s uniform and other items they bring to school so if left behind they can be returned to them. Please ensure their name is on the clothing not the previous owner.
Big Behaviour Bash Details
On Friday 6th December we will be having the annual Big Behaviour Bash at the Junee Recreation & Aquatic Centre. This day is the whole school reward for their positive behaviour throughout the year.
As this is the same day as our final assembly, we are having the final assembly from 9-10am in the hall on that Friday. From 10-11am we will have whole school cleanup then recess from 11.00 -11.30am.
At 11.30am the school will proceed to the pool and the Big Behaviour Bash will finish at 3pm with pickup, bus and walkers from the pool on that day. If you wish to take your child/ren earlier please let the class teacher know before you take them.
Please ensure you complete the compass notification when it is received to give your child/ren permission to attend. Further details will be listed in the notification.
Year 6 Graduation Mass and Dinner
Year 6 will have their Graduation Mass on Monday 9th December at 6pm in the church. This will be followed by dinner at the Commercial Hotel. Kinder students are invited to attend this special mass for their buddies as they will form a special part of this liturgy. More information will be communicated to the families.
Year 6 Fun Day: 12th December 2024
Year 6 students will partake in a special Fun Day in conclusion to their time at St Joseph’s. Mr Pratt will communicate details and permissions required for the day.
Semester 2 Reports

Christmas on Broadway
Our school was very well represented for our performance at Christmas on Broadway with lots of beautiful singing voices. Thank you to all the children and parents who attended. A big thank you also to Mrs Huard and Mrs Hart for supervising.
Combined Churches Christmas Carols
The students have been practising the dance for this event with Mrs Kate Ball. An information letter was sent home on Monday detailing a practice session the day before the event and also included information regarding times to meet on the day.
2025 Deb Ball: March 2025
St Joseph’s Debutante Ball is the only Debutante Ball hosted in Junee. We just hosted the 2024 Debutante Ball on the 2nd November with 11 debutantes and it was a huge success.
Expressions of interest are now being raised for any young lady wishing to make her Debut in March 2025. They must be in Year 12 or equivalent age. If you know of any young ladies wishing to make their debut next year please register your interest with the QR code below.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone and thank you for all that you do for our amazing school.
God Bless
Angela Scott
