Green Class News

Years 2, 3 & 4

What a term we have had! And it is only week 6!

The class, along with the rest of the school, had an amazing time with the local RFS learning how to make our homes fire safe and discussing the importance of having a fire safety plan to keep ourselves and our families safe in the event of a fire.

We also enjoyed a visit from the SES who taught us how to be safe when there is flooding. They showed us the equipment that they have on their truck and explained how they used it, and they even let us sit inside and use the sirens!

We would like to say a big thank you to the volunteers who took the time out of their days to share their expertise with us and teach us such lifesaving information.

We had the privilege of Musica Viva coming to our school who performed the show Two Wheel Time Machine. We really enjoyed the music that they played for us and learned about how we should never give up and we should keep trying, even if we find a task difficult.

As part of our maths lessons, we have been learning about volume. We discussed how volume if the measurement of how much space an object takes up. As a challenge, the students were given a single piece of A4 paper and had to make a container that would have the most volume. We used rice bubbles to measure the volume of our containers. The students showed a lot of creativity and ingenuity when designing their containers. Some containers were more successful than other, but I am so proud of every student for having a go!
