Bronze Medal Junior Mixed Pairs World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships
It was a history in the making for Australia when Alicia and her teammate won the bronze medal the Junior Mixed Pair division at the World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships in Hong Kong this week. It was Australia's first ever medal in the Junior division! Alicia and her team mate won against Iraq in Round 32, then beat Germany in Round 16, proceeding to win against Austria in the Quarter final. Unfortunately, they lost to the Philippines in the Semi-final who were just too strong.
Being able to call themselves World No. 3 Junior's Mixed Pair is an amazing achievement at such a prestigious event. Congratulations Alicia on this spectacular achievement.
Western Metropolitan Region Intermediate Boys Hockey Finals - SCHS WMR CHAMPIONS!
On October 31st, our intermediate hockey team had an incredible journey at the interschool regional hockey tournament! Despite a tough start with a narrow loss in our first game, we bounced back stronger than ever to win our next three matches. Our goal scorers, Gavin (1), Sachiv (2), Lachlan (1), Riley (1), and Jay (2), displayed exceptional skill and determination, with each goal-lifting team spirit and momentum. Thanks to our teamwork and resilience, we emerged victorious overall, securing the regional championship title and qualifying for the state tournament.

State Championships
After successfully winning Regionals we have made it to the final round, which is State, on November 11th at Footscray Hockey Club. The highest level competition for School Sport Victoria.
Ahead of us were three tough matches. It was a hot day but we knew if we worked together as a team we could win the whole thing. The first game of the day was against Chairo Christian S Drouin. As soon as the game started we immediately felt the intensity and the difference from the last round. Our opponents were high in skill. WIthout a doubt it was a tough match. Coming into half time it was still 0-0. We managed to keep up with them using various strategies in both our offence and defence. The second half was even more grueling with the heat kicking in and this tired us out very quickly. The match finished in a 0-3 loss. Over the break the team reflected on the things we could improve on and also the things which went well.
Before the start of the second game against the eventual winners Balwyn High School we refreshed ourselves with Ms. Fenby’s orange slices, put our sticks in and stepped onto the field with high hopes. First half was a big push and we managed to keep up with them despite their high skill level.
At half time we were tied once again at 0-0. Once again the heat caught up to us in the second half leading to a worsened performance overall. The second game ended up in a 0-2 loss for us. Unfortunately this crushed our hopes and dreams of winning the State Finals but we had one last game to prove ourselves.
Leading into the third and final game against Victory Lutheran C we wanted to come out with a positive for the day so the team members recuperated themselves for the last match. Despite our circumstances and the heat, we found motivation within ourselves and came out of the first half 1-0 up. We scored our first goal of the day and we knew we could beat this team. Starting the second half we scored a goal right off the bat, giving us a 2-0 lead. The mood was high and it was just a final push to keep the lead. Ending the game both teams scored a goal with the final score being 3-1.
Overall, it was a successful Hockey team this year and all the boys were very proud of each other for making it this far and just having the opportunity to play at this level. A very big thank you to Ms. Fenby for coaching us this year and another thank you to Mr. Luci for helping coach during State finals and also helping us during training sessions. To another great year next year!

Western Metropolitan Region Intermediate Girls and Boys Table Tennis
On the 31st of October, the intermediate table tennis girls and boys team went to Geelong for a playoff to qualify for states. It was a tough battle, but unfortunately the girls were knocked out during the semi finals, and the boys gave it their all but ultimately lost to Alamanda in the finals. Though we weren’t able to win, it was a fun day of playing and cheering each other on.
