What we have been up to...

Be Awesome Day and Colour Fun Run

Once again Be Awesome Day and the Colour Fun Run were a terrific success thank you to the support and generosity of our school community. The students all looked to be having an awesome time and there were plenty of smiles and lots of colour at the fun run in the afternoon!

Handwriting

Throughout the year students have been practising handwriting skills each day. Our regular practise supports the students to develop a fluent and legible handwriting style, but it also makes the skill become more automatic, which frees up valuable thinking space during Writing sessions.

Upcoming Learning

Reading, Writing and Spelling:

Our focus texts for the next two weeks are:

  • Bowerbird Blues
  • A Life Song

In Writing for the next fortnight students are learning about procedural and narrative texts. They will continue practising thinking about the process of doing things and the verbs which can be used to describe them, for example they might think about how to make a sandwich or instructions for their favourite game. Whilst writing narratives they will develop their skills in creating characters, adding descriptive language and editing their work.

Phonemes and spelling rules for the rest of term 4 will include:

Week 7: s/ss/se/ce/x/c

Spelling rule - adding suffixes to base words

Week 8:  z/zz/s/se

Spelling rule - Revision

Weeks 9/10 & 11: Revision based on student need

Mathematics: In Mathematics lessons students will continue to work on the concept of time using analogue clocks (half past, quarter to and quarter past) and matching the corresponding digital time. In week 7 our focus will return to place value, addition and subtraction.

Topic: During topic sessions students will be working in small groups to design and construct their Robot Buddy.

R.R.R.R: Our Respectful Relationships topic is 'Problem Solving'. Students will focus on the size of different problems they might encounter and will participate in a range of games and activities which encourage problem solving skills and co-operation.
