Speaking and Listening - How do you support your child's skills at home?

 

Speaking and listening with your child helps them learn new words, express themselves, and feel heard. This builds their confidence, social skills, and sets them up for success in school and life. It's an important way to support their growth and development.

 

Here are some fun games that you might like to try that will support your child's speaking and listening skills:

Take home reading

Just a reminder that it is important that students are still participating in take home reading each day. This program will continue to run for the next few weeks before our school book stocktake to we encourage all students to continue reading and using their local library to borrow books regularly. 

 

Riddles of the Week  Try with the whole family!

 

Riddle: How many months of the year have 28 days?

Answer: All of them! Every month has *at least* 28 days.

 

Riddle: I make a loud sound when I’m changing. When I do change, I get bigger but weigh less. What am I?

Answer: Popcorn.

 

Riddle: What starts with T, ends with T, and has T inside it?

Answer: A teapot.
