Active & Alive
2024 Sport Review
What a massive year it has been for sport it has been. From participating at various gala days, the school swimming and athletics carnival, Diversity Cup as well as our weekly sport, our students have had plenty of opportunities to hit the sporting fields to get active.
Once again, our students participated in the Premier's Sporting Challenge and for the first time, staff were able to participate. Whilst this program is great in getting everyone active, the school also receives a monetary grant to purchase new equipment. Student certificates were given to classes for students to take home. Congratulations to Heidi, Toby, Alex K and Ivy for winning the PSC medallions at the recent Presentation Day.
Our Wednesday sport does not happen without the support of many venues and people in the local community who host our school throughout the year. We were very fortunate to receive over $19,000 for the year from the Federal Government Sporting Schools program which allows us to offer selected sports free of charge to families. Your support and encouragement of our students is greatly appreciated.
Touch Football
Our primary students have been enjoying their Wednesday afternoons at Waratah Sports Club participating in the Orange Thunder All Abilities Touch Football program. Each week, various drills and activities are undertaken before mini games are played.
Thank you to Miss Shez, Miss Auston and Year 11 student Kruz for their assistance in helping our students with their skills and teamwork. The school kindly received a donation from Kent’s Hardware to cover the cost of registration, weekly meal deal and a shirt for our students.
RDA Christmas Party
In Week 8, our primary and secondary RDA students and staff along with Mrs Meers, attended the RDA Christmas Party to celebrate another great year of horse riding. In a long-standing partnership, the RDA volunteers have given up their time to allow our students to enjoy the facilities and horses each week for sport. Christmas gifts and cards were exchanged and we would like to thank each of the volunteers for their efforts in supporting our students.
Sailing at the Lake
For the final week of sailing, Mrs Meers, some Year 6 students and myself joined the secondary sailing group for a fun morning on the lake. With glorious sailing conditions on offer, an enjoyable time was held by all with lots of smiles and splashing. In 2025, primary classes will have the opportunity to join the secondary students for a morning of sailing to complement their weekly sport.
House Captains
Thank you to our 2024 house captains for your efforts throughout the year at the different carnivals and presenting sports awards at assemblies.
Congratulations to our recently elected 2025 house captains on your appointments and I look forward to working with you all in providing positive encouragement and atmosphere at sporting events in 2025.
