Year One/Two News

What an amazing start to the year! The Millie Building has started off the year on such a positive note, the students are thriving and thoroughly enjoying their time at school. We have met some new students and we have seen the start of many new friendships. The teachers have been busy creating several new learning experiences for students. So far this term, we have been busy establishing classroom expectations and setting students up for success within the classroom and in the yard.

In Reading, students have been learning about the skills to be a successful reader and beginning to investigate characters and settings of a range of texts.

During Writing, students have focused on writing successful sentences. They have learnt what makes a successful sentence and had lots of opportunities to practise these skills.

In Maths, we have been learning about Place Value. Students have used a range of manipulatives to assist them with understanding the value of numbers.

Our Integrated Studies unit this term is focusing on History, we have been comparing families, activities and technology from the past compared to the present.

Students have settled in so well and we are all excited to see what the remainder of the year brings!
