NAPLAN
Year 3 and Year 5 students will be taking part in NAPLAN (The National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy) Assessments this term, with the NAPLAN period beginning on Wednesday, 13th of March.
NAPLAN assessments are completed by students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 nationwide. It is a measure to see how Australian students are developing their literacy and numeracy skills.
NAPLAN is a fully digital assessment with the exception of Year 3 Writing.
Every student will need to have the NAP Locked Down Browser 2024 downloaded on their device which can be found in the app store. We ask that this please be downloaded by Monday 26th of February.
When completing NAPLAN assessments, students using iPads are required to have an external keyboard connected. It is recommended that students who have an external keyboard suitable for iPad use at home bring these to school to support them in developing keyboard familiarity. This includes any iPad cases with an inbuilt keyboard. Any student who does not have an external keyboard available to them will be provided with one during the NAPLAN assessment period.
Our aim at Miners Rest Primary School is to support our students to have a positive experience free from as much stress and test anxiety as possible. Therefore, in the coming weeks, students in Year 3 and Year 5 will be completing some practise assessments to support them in becoming familiar with the platform used, and the tests themselves. It is important to remind and reassure your child that all they need to do is simply try their best!
Attached below is the official Information for Parents and Carers information brochure.
The intended test schedule will be communicated in the newsletter in the coming weeks.
