News from the Art Room

The art room has been a hive of activity, with all classes enjoying the opportunity to get back into art making!

Please read all about what each year level has been up to in the art room and don’t forget to check out the photos too!

The Foundation students have made a great start in the art room and have embraced the opportunity to explore the art element of Line.  They’ve used a range of mediums, including oil pastels and play dough to create different types of lines. They loved working with some of our Year 5/6 students.

Our amazing Year 1/2 artists have thoroughly enjoyed creating their own air-dry clay miniature models and are now planning their own insect themed art work to complement their learning in STEM.

The Year 3/4, with the help of some Year 5/6 students, started the year creating collaborative art works, which have now been displayed in the Brady building gallery space. Lauren and Mr Loader love the art work that now adorns the doorway to their office space!

Year 3/4 students are now learning about drawing techniques and will be planning their own art works to complement their ‘Plants in Action’ learning in STEM

Our Year 5/6 students have been exploring the work of Ken Done and in response have created some amazing ‘painted’ plasticine pictures.  They are currently learning about colour theory and will be planning their own artwork to showcase their learning.

A big thank you goes out to all the responsible students who remember to bring their smock to art every week. Making art can certainly be messy; especially when you’re painting and using food dye!  It’s extremely important to protect your school uniform, so wearing a smock is essential.

Kind regards,

Deirdre Bleicher
