Interschool Sports
Thursday 29th of February
On the 29th of February, the Year 6 students took buses provided by the school to compete against other schools from Years Five and Six. Each student had a sport assigned to them to create a team. The sports were Hot Shot Tennis, Volleyball, T-ball and Cricket. Tennis, T-ball and Volleyball players went to Mulgrave Primary School. Cricket players went to Freeway Reserve. Students played their sports against many other nearby schools to see who would rise out on top. There were many skilled competitors in all the various sports, taking their best shot at well played matches between each other to determine the true winner. Throughout the day we had limited short breaks to eat and walk around the areas before each match, one by one, giving it all we had to support each other. Who do you think won the first Interschool Sports day? And what really happened in their experience? Well, it's time to find out what our students have said about their experience at Inter-school Sport.

We went to mulgrave primary school. The Hot Shot Tennis court was red and in our team there was Roy, Oskar, Bradley N, Fritz, Geoff, Emily R, Kate, Sienna P and Caitlin. The courts were small and we had to keep track of our own scores with our opponent from the other school. When we finished one game we had to tell the teachers our scores. We versed each school 3 times so we did a total of 9 games - two singles games and one doubles game. We versed St justin's first, Albany Rise second and Brandon Park Primary School last. It was 27 degrees celsius so it was scorching hot when we played and after the games everyone was sweating and tired.

We went to Mulgrave Primary School to verse the other schools at Volleyball. We had 3 teams - 2 girls teams and 1 boys team. We have been learning some of the Volleyball skills during our Sport lessons at school. To dig, we had to put our arms together in an upside down V shape. To spike, we had to lift our hand to smash the ball over the net. We versed St Justin’s, Waverley Meadows, Brandon Park and Mulgrave Primary School. We won 2 games, drew 1 and lost 1 game.

In T-Ball, you have to hit the ball off a pole that holds the ball and run around the bases. You have to get all the way around and then you get one home run. Whoever gets the most home runs wins. There are fielders, batters and the backstop. The backstop gets the ball and steps on the home base to get runners out. Bases 1,2 and 3 can also get the ball and get runners out. The fielding team’s job is to stop the batters from getting runs and the batter’s job is to get lots of runs. There was a boys and a girls team in T-Ball. We versed Mulgrave Primary School and Brandon Park Primary School.

We went to an oval next to Mazenod College. We took a bus there. We had two teams from Good Shepherd. An A team and a B team. We played against Brandon Park, St Justin’s, Albany Rise and St John Vianney’s. The A team won against St John Vianney’s and St Justin’s and tied against Albany Rise. We lost to Brandon Park. It was a fun game and a pretty tight match. Everyone was okay and no one got hurt badly. It was a safe game. We enjoyed the games a lot. Everyone was encouraging to each other when they felt bad by getting out a lot. The other schools were fun to verse. This was a different, new and fun experience.
