What is happening in the Art room?

Foundation: The new foundation students have been learning about colour!  They were introduced to the primary colours and had a fun day mixing secondary colours on their hands to make prints.

Year 1-2: Students have started the year by creating a beautiful self-portrait collage. They have been learning to paint and draw people starting from a stickman frame.

Year 3-4: The year was started by using cartooning to create exaggerated self-portraits. The results were fantastic!  Students were then given a clothing reference sheet and practiced drawing a cartoon image that is fully dressed. These were copied to acetate and a background made with collage.

Year 5:  The year 5’s created stunning self-portraits using a new technique of reverse acetate painting. They applied a warm or cool colour scheme to achieve contrast. Currently they are learning the art of tie dye and Indonesian batik to create a cushion.

Art Smocks: All year F-2 require art smocks to be brought from home.

All year 3-6 I will provide an art apron.

Parent helpers: If you have spare time and are a parent in the F-year 1  levels I would love an extra hand in the Art room. Just let the office know first please.

Art room request for recyclables: If anyone has anything they think might be useful in the Art room please come see me.  Useful items include: egg cartons, small boxes, cylinders, buttons, ribbon, wool, white cotton sheeting, pillow stuffing, threads, and plastic ice cream containers. Thanks in advance!
