Challenge Week

Year 8

Week 6 of Term 1 saw Year 8’s participate in Challenge Week!

With “Growth” being the theme for this year, the students were certainly put to the test through various activities, which included Tree Top climbing, Laser Tag, Canoeing, Geocaching, 1000 steps, Cable and Aqua fun, and Bike Riding. All of the activities have pushed the students to be challenged physically and mentally as without challenge there can be no

We have had lots of fun seeing you all step out of your comfort zone and approach each day’s challenges with so much enthusiasm. We hope each and every student has had an amazing challenge week by engaging wholeheartedly in all of the activities on offer.

Overall, the positive feedback from students, parents and teachers speaks volumes about the programs that are being run at Wantirna. The positive impact from Challenge Week on the wellbeing of all students, being able to connect with their peers and overcome challenges cannot be understated.

Below are some of the responses from students about their Challenge Week experience:

Emily: The best parts were definitely getting the opportunity to bond with my friends and the laser tag.

Talen: It was definitely challenging but overall it’s been pretty fun.

Sam: I was pretty nervous but I am having fun. It is definitely worth the money.

Scarlett: It's really fun and easy.

Caleb: Really fun. Surprised how good it has been.

Logan: I really enjoyed Trees Adventure.

Xavier: My Challenge Week has been good so far, I enjoyed canoeing the most. Geocaching was also fun.

Brianna: I enjoyed shooting the teachers (laser tag).

Ellie: Challenge Week has been really fun. I really enjoyed Canoeing. It was really relaxing. I also liked Geocaching because it reminded me of all the walks around Lilydale Lake I did as a kid.

From the teachers:

Mr Biggs: Did you see my commando roles?

Ms Thomson: A lot of kids learnt how effective a life vest was this week.

Mr Daw: Laser tag was lots of fun to pretend to be Rambo - in bright tie-die overalls.

Mrs Robinson: Unavailable for a comment as she is still out looking for the geocaches, but she definitely has enough sunscreen on.

We would like to thank the Year 8 cohort for their exemplary behaviour during the week. We enjoyed spending time with you and getting to know you more as a cohort as did many of the Year 8 teachers who attended. We are looking forward to engaging with you in our year level competitions throughout the year!
