Dear Parents and Carers,
This week we will beginning NAPLAN for our Year 3 & 5 students. NAPLAN assesses our student's reading, writing, spelling, grammar and maths knowledge on one day of the year. We will use the data this assessment provides us, as one part of many that we utilise to inform our teaching and learning goals for our students. We have had a test run for students and explained to them that there's no need to be nervous, it's just like another day in their class with their teacher doing an assessment. NAPLAN will run through this week, with catch up sessions for any missed assessments next week.
Parent and Friends 2023
Thank you again to our P & F Committee from 2023 who fundraised an incredible amount of money to put towards different resources at Sacred Heart School. In 2022, the P & F committee agreed to fund the Year 6 shirts for our students moving forward. Last week the 2024 shirts arrived, and have been worn with pride daily.
We also updated the sandpit with lots of new toys that have been a real hit. Thank you to our 2023 P & F Committee!
Parent and Carer Community Group 2024
A reminder to all Parents and Carers in the Sacred Heart School Community we will be having our first meeting of our new Parent & Carer Group tomorrow.
This group will combine the great work of our Parents and Friends Group and School Advisory Committee in 2024.
We warmly invite all Parents and Carers to attend this meeting to discuss how the new group will work in 2024, opportunities for feedback and discussion and fundraising events in 2024.
If you have any questions or can't make it tomorrow but want to be included in the future, please email principal@shcorryong.catholic.edu.au .
'Catch Me Being Good'
In 2024 we wanted to make sure that we were recognising individual students for the way they demonstrate the school expectations of being safe, respectful, responsible and a learner. This has been a focus for whole class acknowledgement in 2023 and in 2024 we want to recognise both.
The below students are our first recipients of 'Catch Me Being Good' awards.
All week teachers and Staff identify students demonstrating the expectations, by writing a note with what they were 'caught doing' that is added into a box. Either at that weeks Assembly or Monday's morning briefing, we randomly draw a winner.
ECSI Survey
Families are invited to participate in our School Enhancing Catholic School Identity (ECSI) Survey. This survey helps us at school to better understand our current Catholic Identity and where the school community might like to see itself in the future.
The results from this survey are used by our School and Catholic Education Sandhurst Ltd to plan future goals within Catholic Identity at school.
An email will be sent to all families with instructions on how to complete the survey. Please note it does take up to an hour to complete the survey. We appreciate you completing this survey so we can use your feedback to inform our future goals.
Student Award Recipients
Recent focus' 'I wear the correct uniform' and 'I use my manners' presented at the 2/3/4 Assembly on Friday.
Visit from the Executive Director
On Wednesday 13th of March we look forward to welcoming Kate Fogarty to Sacred Heart School. Katie is our new Executive Director of Catholic Education Sandhurst Ltd taking over the role from Paul Desmond who attended site last year for our 60th Birthday celebrations. We look forward to giving Kate a tour of the school and grounds as well as introducing her to all in our Sacred Heart School Community.
Classroom Teacher Weekly Emails
Our Teachers share a weekly update of what is upcoming in your child's/ren's classrooms, including what they're learning, any reminders as well as important dates. Please let us know if you aren't receiving these and we will be sure to fix this.
Please don't hesitate to contact me via phone or email principal@shcorryong.catholic.edu.au if you have any questions.
