Physical Education and Sport Program

Physical Education and Sport Program

Dear BEPS Community,

Welcome to the Physical Education and Sports Program for 2024! Each week, your child will participate in a lesson that engages them in physical activity and theoretical concepts that are in line with the Victorian Curriculum.

So far this term, students have developed essential skills for safety and teamwork within the physical educational context. They have participated in team games and activities that have enhanced their communication skills. This has enabled students to experience how good communication can directly influence the achievement of a shared outcome. This links directly to the schools’ focus on ‘healthy communities’.

With respect to the different year levels, Foundation and Year 1 and 2 students have been learning fundamental movement skills such as running; jumping; dodging; skipping and hopping. They have been required to apply these skills in games and activities.

This term, the sports program has enabled students to compete in District and Division swimming events. Year 6 students are currently representing the school in tennis; rounders; softball; cricket; volleyball and endzone at the Monash Heights District Interschool Sports Competition.

Looking ahead, the BEPS Athletics Carnival is taking place in Week 8 of Term 1. This allows students from Years 3 to 6 the opportunity to represent their school houses through active participation in a variety of athletic events. In preparation for the Athletics Carnival, students have learnt and practised their athletics skills during physical education classes.

These events include, 100m; 200m; 800m; long jump, triple jump; shot put and discus. The Athletics Carnival promises to be an action packed fun day for all.

If you would like to assist on the day, please let your child’s classroom teacher know or email me at:
