Year 1 Find and Build Shapes

In Maths, students have been exploring different two-dimensional and three-dimensional shapes inside and outside the classroom. Students have walked around the yard on a shape hunt, discovering, naming and drawing each shape. 

They have also had the opportunity to design and create their own shapes using popsicle sticks and Blu Tack. Year 1's have challenged themselves by making 3D shapes such as a triangular prism, rectangular prism and a cube. After creating their shapes, they were able to identify the properties such as corners, sides and faces.
