We have been using COMPASS for a number of years now and all excursion permissions etc are sent to parents via this media.
It is important that parents give permission for activities on COMPASS by the due date.
It is a complex issue organising an excursion and we need to ensure the safety of all students who are attending. Teachers need to be extra diligent when we are outside school grounds.
We need to know exactly how many children are attending so we can book buses with a seatbelt for every child, organise and pay for venues, employ additional CRT (Casual Relief Teachers ) to lower the numbers in supervision groups, pay for presenters and complete all risk and relevant document which needs to be sent to the Department of Education prior to the excursion.
We can no longer include students who do not have the correct permissions signed by the due date as this can cause additional work for all staff involved and can lessen our duty of care with children coming and going after all plans have been submitted.
No student are to have ANY type of medication stored in their school bag. This includes Panadol, hayfever tablets, asthma puffers etc. A medication form must be completed and signed by a parent and medication stored up in the office.
Term 1 is a very short term. Students will be dismissed on Thursday 28th March (Easter Thursday) at 2.30pm. Students return to school for Term 2 on Monday 15th April.
To ensure we have enough space for siblings in our school, we ask that parents with a child who will begin school next year to organise an appointment with myself as soon as possible. I have allocated every Tuesday to chat with parents and meet your little one. During this appointment we can help organise any services or support that is needed for your child to ensure everything is in place for the start of the 2025 school year. Many thanks in advance.
As explained previously there are a number of professional Learning days that every government school must allocate for staff professional development. We have submitted our recommended days to school council at the end of last year and all have been approved. Our next planned day is Wednesday 24th April- day before ANZAC Day. This day will be devoted to upskilling staff in the areas of Numeracy and Literacy.
Have a great holiday everyone and stay safe
Jenny
