PREP NEWS
The Fun Week That Was in Prep!
Thank You
We wanted to extend our sincerest gratitude for joining us at the recent parent-teacher interviews. It was a joy to connect with families and a wonderful opportunity to collaborate and celebrate the milestones achieved by our preps in their learning journey thus far. Your support and involvement play a crucial role in their academic and personal development, and we are incredibly grateful for your commitment to their education.
Congratulations to our Student Of The Weeks (Week 5)
Caitlin - for her compassion in helping her peers inside and outside the classroom. It has been a delight to have this positivity and kindness.
Vera - for her courage in settling and being a wonderful addition to our team.
Literacy
Each week our students are introduced to two new sounds. This week we have enjoyed moving onto our Stage 2 sounds and meeting our two new characters from the Little Learners Love Literacy Program – Ben the bear which helps us remember the /b/ sound and Harry the hippo who helps us remember the /h/ sound. We wonder if students can find objects and things around them that begin with the /b/ and /h/ sound.
This week we enjoyed our Buddy picnic to celebrate the letter /b/ and all the sounds from stage 1 of Little Learners Love Literacy - students collaborated and planned the foods we would enjoy with our buddy and share their learning. Students chose: apples, bananas, popcorn, twisties, blue biscuits and icey pole. Students enjoyed icing their biscuits blue and topped with sprinkles.
Further more, we have enjoyed literacy rotations - where students have been involved in learning through various activities to consolidate their knowledge of the sounds.
Numeracy
Students enjoyed using their maths skills to plan for their buddy picnic - this included understanding that events can involve a different number of guests. Students then planned how many plates, apples, bananas, blue biscuits, popcorn and twisities they needed between them and their buddy and planned accordingly with some cutting and pasting of these items onto a plate. They were all very ambitious and their planning paid off with a fantastic buddy picnic!
Buddy Picnic
There was a buzz and excitement around the Buddy picnic all week! It was a successful day, all thanks to our dedicated students who diligently used their literacy and numeracy skills to plan for this event. In addition, we engaged students in some chivalry lessons, and it was heartwarming watching our preps invite their buddy to their seat and have a wonderful time together over their wonderful achievements in planning this event.
