Respectful Inclusive Community
Be kind! Ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for everyone.
At Baimbridge, we believe that every individual is unique and deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. Respect is not just one of our school values, it’s a way of life where every member of the community is valued, honoured, and treated with empathy and understanding. That is why we want to take a moment to reaffirm our commitment to fostering a safe an inclusive environment for all.
The impact of bullying and discrimination can have a lasting impact on students. Hence the importance of building a culture of kindness, empathy, inclusivity and respect in our schools and communities through our learning programs and our daily interactions with each other.
Discrimination in any form has no place within our school community. Whether it's based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or any other characteristic, we stand firmly against it. We believe that diversity is our strength, and by embracing our differences, we enrich our learning experiences and cultivate a culture of acceptance.
We want every student to feel valued and supported, regardless of who they are or where they come from. Our school is a place where everyone should feel free to express themselves authentically and pursue their passions without fear of prejudice or bias.
To uphold these values, we encourage all students to actively challenge and report discrimination whenever they encounter it. Whether it's through standing up for a peer, seeking help from an adult, participating in discussions about diversity and inclusion, or simply leading by example through their actions, each of us plays a crucial role in creating a more equitable and harmonious community. Students will continue to be involved in programs to educate and upskill students on Respectful Relationships and our school values in action.
As a school community, we must educate our students on acceptable behaviour and language within our school and broader community. We kindly ask for your support in discussing with your children the importance of using appropriate language and behaviours of kindness and inclusivity, particularly in the context of discriminatory language and managing conflict. Your partnership in reinforcing these values at home will significantly contribute to creating a respectful environment. We will continue to offer strategies and supports for families via Compass, our school newsletter, and SchoolTV resource.
Together, we create the community where every student can experiences success.
Respectful school communities start with respectful school behaviours
Every member of our school community has a right to feel safe and be protected. The department’s Respectful Behaviours within the School Community Policy describes the positive behaviour expected from parents, carers, and other adults in Victorian school communities. The policy sets clear standards of behaviour to create a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment for students, staff, and adults.
There are also resources to support safe and respectful relationships in our school community, including information about getting involved in the school, advice on how to raise a concern or complaint, and parenting support resources. You can find the policy and these resources here. You may also see a new poster up around our school and shared prior to parent meetings, promoting positive behaviours to enhance communication and support students’ learning at school.
If you need support in contacting the school, our Reception can be the best place to start on (03) 55722788 or Baimbridge.co@education.vic.gov.au
