SRC Report
President Milly Wright
This semester has been a fun one for the SRC. Before I start with the recap of the past events we ran or assisted with there is a special little announcement. During the term, one of members Wally made the decision to step away due to other commitments. So, in the absence of Wally, we welcomed Darcy Shipcott as our new Year 7 representative. One of the first items we actioned from an idea into a physical form is the year level suggestion boxed placed around the year levels selected area with a pen and notepad. These are checked weekly before our Monday meetings so please jot down any concerns you have around the school or ideas you have for us.
We also successfully ran the ANZAC service back in April, it was great to see everyone who was laying a wreath practice at the assembly to then go out and represent Baimbridge in their communities. Having the ability to run a service to honour those who fought for us it is something not to take for granted and I am sure next year’s SRC will smash it.
The SRC assisted the year 12 VM students with the fundraising for their biggest morning tea they were hosting by organizing the dress up day to achieve the most out our community for such a great cause. So, thank you VM students for allowing us to help you leading up to your big event.
Now for something I find to be quite inspiring and wish I could have attended. A group of students attended a zoom call with Afghani women and got to ask plenty of questions and began to gain a valued understanding of what it is like over there. They also discussed what they are allowed to do and how they are trying to gain an education. The day of the zoom call marked 1000 days since the Taliban decided that females could not attend school or gain an education and as much as I understand students hating school, I think we all need to be grateful that we are privileged to have an education system like we do.
My final item is a massive thank you to Ms Hiscock! Through out this semester she has been an immense help to the SRC in helping us run our meetings and feeding us fun ideas to get our creativity sparked. Unfortunately, we have to say goodbye as she is leaving us at the end of the term. I know I am grateful for a lot, but I really am grateful for the step you gave SRC with ideas you have had at previous schools to help us uplevel and bring in fun and exciting fundraisers. Enjoy whatever life gives you and know that our Baimbridge community will miss you!
