Principal

Welcome Back……

A big thank you to Kate Nancarrow for her work as Acting Principal and Sarah Watkins as Acting Assistant Principal while I enjoyed my long service leave. I had a fantastic time in Fiji, enjoying the warm and sunny weather; the time to relax and refresh was beneficial. I want to thank the staff for their work supporting Kate and Sarah in my absence.

Welcome back to all our families! It was great to see all the smiling faces on my return to school yesterday! We hope you all enjoyed your break and that the students are as excited to be back as we are. We are anticipating a full, busy final term of learning and growing for 2023.  There is much to look forward to, such as the Prep-4 swimming program, Step into Prep and whole school transition programs, Teddy Bear Maths night and Bike Ed.  Please check the Upcoming Dates at the beginning of the Newsletter for the most current information regarding events and activities for this term.

Classes for 2024

Teachers will begin the task of preparing for the 2024 classes in November.  If you need to communicate something regarding your child’s educational needs for 2024, please do this in writing directly to the Principal, via letter or email.    Requests made to teachers, or for particular teachers, cannot be accommodated.

Class teachers and Specialist teachers who have been working with children throughout the year know the students and their friendship groups. They are familiar with their learning needs, and are able to make wise decisions around their placement in 2024 classes. Teachers will be directly involved when placement is being considered.

Please note: As class formation is time-consuming and takes many weeks to complete, written requests must be submitted by Friday, 27 October.   Requests received after this date cannot be considered.   We appreciate your understanding.

Thanks!

It was wonderful to have our Year 1 and 2 students begin the camping experience with a dinner at school followed by the Year 2 sleepover on the final few days of Term 3. Thank you to all the parents who assisted either on the evening or in the morning! A very big thank you to Phillippa Waters and Shaun McIroy who braved the overnight stay! Thanks also to our staff, their dedication and commitment is greatly appreciated.  It is because of their support that we are able to offer these wonderful experiences.

Icy Poles

Icy pole Friday begins this week! Every Friday the SRC will sell icy poles from the Hall Kitchen windows.  Icy poles are $1.00.

Parent Information Evening – Tech / Social Media

As mentioned at the end of Term 2, we have booked a parent/guardian ‘Think U Know’ presentation for the evening of Tuesday 24 October.

ThinkUKnow Australia is an evidence-based education program led by the Australian Federal Police (AFP), delivered nationally in partnership with police and industry partners to prevent online child sexual exploitation.

  • They incorporate up-to-date research, real case studies and examples from reports made to the AFP-led Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation.
  • The program is pro-technology and addresses topics including self-generated child abuse material, online grooming, sexual extortion, and importantly encourages help seeking behaviour.
  • The program is a partnership with the AFP, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Datacom and Microsoft Australia, and in collaboration with all State and Territory police and Neighbourhood Watch Australasia.

This presentation will be held in the school library at 6:00pm and is a parents only presentation.
