Foundation Class

PREP FOCUS ON KINDNESS

The Kindness Tree has been part of the learning in the Foundation class this semester. It has been a visual that has helped the class focus on kind and helpful acts. The Kindness Tree has been an age-appropriate way to record our kindness. We discussed how we were going to record each other’s kindness. It was decided, as a class, that we could do it in the form of their hands. The students placed a hand on the tree to signify each kind act to represent the kindness occurring in our classroom or home.

The best part about this kindness activity has been that it is a daily reminder of how easy it is to make someone smile and to be kind to others when we walk into the class. As the above photos show, the Kindness Tree on the left is at the start of the project and the Kindness Tree on the right is blossoming with kindness throughout this semester.

To conclude our Kindness Project, both the students and I jointly agreed to give a gesture of kindness to a local service within our community to show how deeply we value their efforts.

The students came up with the idea of making some flowers and a card to give to Beaufort & District Op Shop as a gesture of kindness for their invaluable assistance with our school communities excursions and camps. They all work very hard and we wanted them to know that it has not gone unnoticed and that we appreciate their ongoing support. This was an occasion for us to express our thanks and show our gratitude to their year-round contributions.

The Prep students loved getting out into the community and handing over their card and flowers. To finish off such an exciting outing, the students had their lunch at the local playground.

Again, a big thank you to the Beaufort & District Op Shop, for everything they do to help us at Beaufort Primary School.
