Progress Reports
The college’s last Progress Report for Term 3 is now released on Compass to give a snapshot of how students are operating in their classes. This snapshot covered Learning Behaviours aligned with the college’s CORE Values of Community, Achievement, Respect and Engagement. If you have not yet had a moment to open this Report, please make some time over the next few days to do so with your student.
Major Assessment Pieces
Students will have completed a Summative Assessment (Major Learning Task) for each subject that is now visible in Compass. This is another way parents and carers can determine how students’ skill and knowledge have developed over Term 3.
Student Led Conferences
Thank you to everyone who logged in and attended our Virtual Student Led Conferences on Thursday 7th September. These were a great way to build relationships between school and home and allow an exploration of the learning and next steps for students.
Student Curriculum Update
Year 9 English – Informative Oral Presentations
Students planned, drafted, and presented an oral presentation on a topic of their interest or choosing. Two students share their experiences below.
Elkah What topic did you select? Friendship Why was this topic important to you? It’s important because without friendship life is lonely and sad. What Skills or Knowledge have you strengthened? I have always had anxiety around presenting out loud. This year I have been able to build my confidence to present in a small group. It helped I was able to choose my topic. My ability to speak clearly and with confidence has improved and I did a better presentation than ever before. |
Taylah What topic did you select? I selected the topic of Squishmallows for my informative presentation. Why was this topic important to you? I am addicted, I have a passion for them (the toys), they are cute and lovable. What Skills or Knowledge have you strengthened? Through this unit I developed confidence to share my interest with an audience and present in an engaging way. My tone and voice projection has improved a lot. My body language when presenting is also better. |
Year 7 Sport Education – Fitness Training Unit
Students worked through a fitness program to build stamina and improve their fitness techniques. Three students share their experiences below.
Izaiah, Tyler and Cody What have you been doing in Sport Edu? We have been working on improving our fitness. We have been monitoring and recording how our weight usage has increase. We’ve been working on improving our form using heavier weights. Share your successes. I’ve been participating in the prac and trying to get better, last term I didn’t really get involved in the sport as much. I’ve been able to increase the amount of weight I can lift and can do more. I’ve got more confidence in the fitness center and can use the space more confidently. Any other improvements or growth? My attendance has improved and I’m coming to school more regularly – especially when I have Sport Edu. I like the class and can see it will help me as I get older if I went to a gym outside of school. |
Please also be aware the Visible Learning for Term 4 will be available at the end of Week 1 next term.
