Laura Higgins
Hello everyone,
I feel like we say this at the end of every term – but my golly, this was a huge one! It’s safe to say that Term 4 is going to be even bigger and more exciting!
I think that if you stopped any Year 10 students last week and asked them what the best thing that happened this term was – they would say the Mitch Tambo music presentation, where our Year 10s sang and danced their little hearts out! It was amazing! A student made a point of saying that the performance was ‘one of the best assemblies’ that they had been to – which I think is pretty flattering for my singing ability! Haha!
The Year 10 Formal at Deoro by the Bay was a glamorous night of celebration and fabulous outfits as our students marked another step in their journey. The kids were phenomenal – with the best-dressed awards going to the divine Destiny McKinnon and the very suave Sand Williams. We have also had some special industry-focused events this term, like the FMP Industry event and an ADF presentation that gave students insights into future career opportunities. Year 12 students also had the chance to explore job skills through the Chisholm Job Skills Seeker program. We ended the term with the Red Frogs Program, which is essential for students during these milestone moments. The Schoolies/Leavers Program for Year 12s and the Party Safe program for Year 10s emphasised responsible choices.
It is the silly season ahead and I would love you all to quickly look over the huge number of things that are happening in the upcoming months!
For our Year 12 VM students, this term also marks an important phase in their journey. It's a time to complete their VET courses and seek guidance from our dedicated careers counsellor, Rebecca Parker, about taking that big step into the working world. Rebecca is here to support students in accessing the career tools platform and completing essential tasks such as crafting a career action plan, composing a cover letter and resume, and updating personal details. These steps are crucial as our students prepare to take their next big step after completing their certificate.
Year 12 VCE Exams: The Countdown Begins!
As we shift our focus to Term 4, we can't ignore the fact that our Year 12s are about to embark on their final VCAA exams. Year 12 and 11 students who are undertaking Unit 4 have very little time before their final VCE exams. The school is committed to ensuring students are provided with support programs aiming at setting our students up for the best possible training to achieve their best possible results. Students have been provided with individualized study packs that hold their exam navigator, holiday revision program, two practice exams to be completed for each subject, alternate revision tasks, a study planner and practice exam timetable. With only a few weeks left of scheduled classes before the VCE exams, we are expecting that students make this their priority during the break. At this time of year, students should also be encouraged to cut down their commitments outside of school and focus on the end-of-year exams.
To all the parents and carers out there, we understand the importance of your support during this crucial time. We've gathered some valuable resources to help you guide and assist your students in their exam preparation.
