Aascf NSW/ACT Dance Championships

In a spectacular showcase of talent and dedication, Lexi (C10) and Eiyarna (C10) recently made their mark at the Aascf NSW/ACT Dance Championships. These two remarkable dancers left audiences in awe with their extraordinary performances and earned well-deserved accolades.

In the Open Elite Lyrical category, Lexi and Eiyarna soared to the top, securing a 1st place victory. Their lyrical performance, filled with emotion and grace, captivated judges, and audiences alike.

Continuing their impressive run, the duo secured 2nd place in the Open Elite Pom category. Precision, synchronization, and boundless energy were on full display in this dynamic performance.

Adding to their achievements, Lexi and Eiyarna claimed the 3rd spot in the Open Elite Jazz category, showcasing their versatility and flair for intricate footwork. These achievements are a testament to their unwavering commitment to dance, countless hours of practice, and the support of their coaches, families, and teammates.

Rugby

Rising Star and 2023 "Roo of the Year"

In the world of junior rugby, talent on the field is important, but character and commitment off the field matter just as much. Harrison (P6), a young rugby enthusiast playing for the Manly Roo’s Rugby Junior Union Club, embodies this ethos, making him the deserving recipient of the 2023 "Roo of the Year" award. This prestigious accolade is more than just a recognition of a player's skills; it celebrates a junior who plays with the spirit of the game, contributes to the club beyond the field, and positively impacts the community.

Harrison's 2023 season has been nothing short of exceptional. Serving as the fly half for the undefeated Manly Marlins Rep. team tour of New Zealand's North Island, he not only contributed to his team's success but also left a lasting impression. His stellar performance earned him the title of 'Best Back' by the Takapuna Rugby Club in Auckland, a testament to his remarkable skills on the pitch.

Throughout the year, Harrison made three grand final appearances, showcasing his versatility and leadership qualities:

Marlins U12 Rep Team at the NSW Junior Rugby Union State Champs: Harrison was an integral part of the Marlins U12 Rep team's journey to the grand final. His dedication and skill were evident, helping his team secure their spot in the championship game.
U12 Manly Roo’s at Hawkesbury Valley (Sydney Junior Rugby Union) Not only did Harrison play a vital role in this team, but he also captained it. His leadership on and off the field was recognized by his teammates, who voted and awarded him the coveted 'Players Player' title for the season. This accolade speaks volumes about his ability to inspire and unite his fellow players.
U12 Manly Brothers Rugby League Team (Manly Warringah DJRFL) Harrison's talent extends beyond rugby union, as he showcased his skills in rugby league as well. He scored the highest number of tries for his team during the season, underlining his exceptional athletic prowess.

Currently, Harrison continues to make waves in both rugby league and rugby union. He is a valued member of the PWH PISA Rugby League team and the PWH Rugby Union team, which recently retained the Mosman Shield under the guidance of Coach Mr. Roberts. His dedication and commitment to both codes of the sport are truly commendable.

As Harrison's remarkable journey continues, he eagerly anticipates the upcoming SJRU Spring 7s Rugby season. With his track record of success, leadership, and sportsmanship, there's no doubt that he will be a force to be reckoned with on the field.

In a world where young athletes are often celebrated solely for their physical abilities, Harrison stands out as an embodiment of what it truly means to be a "Roo of the Year." Excitement is in the air as young motorsport talents Oscar (G8) and Connor (P5) gear up for the upcoming Victorian Road Race Championships at the iconic Phillip Island circuit this weekend. With only one more round remaining in this thrilling series for the year, the stakes are high, and the brothers are determined to make their mark.

Currently, in the championship standings, Oscar holds an impressive second place, while Connor is not far behind in fourth. Their consistent performance throughout the season has been nothing short of remarkable, showcasing their dedication and skill on the racetrack.

For Oscar, the action doesn't stop at Phillip Island this weekend. In October, he'll be making a triumphant return to the same track for the world-renowned MotoGP event. It's a dream come true for any young rider, and Oscar is set to rub shoulders with some of the best in the world as he takes on this prestigious competition.

But that's not all. Just a week later, Oscar will be revving up his engine once again, this time for the Australian Superbike series. His schedule is packed with high-speed excitement, and his determination is unwavering.

In a recent development that adds even more excitement to Oscar's journey, he received official endorsement to ride a 400cc bike. This is a significant milestone for any young rider, marking their progress and readiness to take on more powerful machines. It's a testament to Oscar's talent and hard work.

However, the big news doesn't stop there. Over the weekend, the family received a life-changing announcement: Oscar has been selected to represent his talent on a global stage. In November, he will be heading to Malaysia to try out for the Asia Talent Cup. This is a remarkable achievement, as Oscar will be among the elite group of 89 riders from 17 different countries, all converging to showcase their skills and passion for motorcycle racing.

The Asia Talent Cup serves as a stepping stone for young talents aspiring to reach the pinnacle of motorcycle racing, the MotoGP. Oscar's selection to participate in this prestigious event is a clear indication of his potential and the recognition of his dedication to the sport.

WATER POLO

Australian Schools Invitational Water Polo Championships

The Australian Schools Invitational Water Polo Championships held in Woy Woy from July 26th to 28th showcased exceptional talent and competitive spirit from various schools across the country. One of the Pittwater House students, Ruby (C10), was chosen to represent NSWCIS (New South Wales Combined Independent Schools) in this highly anticipated competition.

The tournament kicked off with an intense showdown on Day 1, as NSWCIS faced off against Queensland (QLD). The match ended in a thrilling 13-13 tie, with both teams displaying remarkable skill and determination. It was a difficult game that set the tone for an exciting championship.

On the second day, NSWCIS clashed with NSWCCC in Game 1. It was a closely contested match, with NSWCIS emerging victorious with a score of 9-7. Both teams exhibited exceptional sportsmanship and played their hearts out, but NSWCIS demonstrated greater strength on this occasion.

In Game 2 of Day 2, NSWCIS faced off against NSWCHS. NSWCIS delivered a stellar performance, securing a convincing 13-7 win. The team showcased their skills and teamwork, making it a relatively easier game compared to the previous day's tough battle.

The championship reached its climax on Day 3 when NSWCIS went head-to-head with QLD once again in the final game. Unfortunately, this time, NSWCIS faced a formidable challenge and ultimately fell short with a final score of 13-15. It was a hard-fought game, but NSWCIS had to settle for second place in the competition.

Throughout the tournament, Ruby proved to be a key asset for NSWCIS. Her exceptional contributions on the field played a pivotal role in the team's success. Her dedication, skill, and teamwork were evident in her performance, and she had the opportunity to shine in crucial moments of the championships.

Well done to Ruby for being an integral part of this outstanding team and contributing to their success in this prestigious event.

HOCKEY

School Sports Australia U16 Hockey Championships

The SSA U16 Hockey Championships took place in Adelaide from August 13 to August 19, 2023, attracting top young talent from across Australia. The championship featured intense competition, with teams vying for the coveted title. From Pittwater House, Lukas (G10), was selected to represent the New South Wales (NSW) Team.

The tournament kicked off with a challenging start for the NSW Team, as they faced off against Queensland (QLD) in their opening match. Despite a strong effort, NSW succumbed to QLD with a score of 4-1. Following the initial setback, NSW regrouped and showcased remarkable resilience. They went on a victorious streak, defeating every opponent they encountered during days 2, 3, 4, and 5. The team demonstrated exceptional teamwork and determination, and Lukas' contributions played a crucial role in their success.

The climax of the tournament was the Grand Final, where NSW faced their earlier adversaries, QLD. It was a thrilling game filled with suspense and excitement. Both teams displayed exceptional skill and determination, making it a closely contested match. In the end, QLD managed to secure a narrow victory with a score of 2-1.

Despite a hard-fought battle throughout the tournament, NSW secured the second-place position in the SSA U16 Hockey Championships. The team's impressive turnaround from their initial loss showcased their resilience and determination. Lukas' consistent contributions and teamwork were instrumental in helping the NSW Team achieve this remarkable result.

The SSA U16 Hockey Championships, were a testament to the talent and determination of young athletes across Australia, and Lukas' representation of Pittwater House and the NSW Team exemplified the spirit of sportsmanship and dedication.

Hockey Australia U13 Carnival

Congratulations to Dexter (G7) and Tobias (G7), for being selected to represent the NSW U13 Hockey Team at the 2023 Hockey Australia U13 Carnival in Newcastle from September 23 to 29 September.

Your dedication, hard work, and talent have truly paid off, and we couldn't be happier for you both. This is an incredible opportunity to showcase your skills and represent Pittwater House and your state on a larger stage.
