SchoolVision - To empower students to shape and enrich the world around them.
Welcome to our beginning of term newsletter. I hope that everyone is happy and healthy and enjoying the extra day light in the evenings.
As we have said a few times, Term 4 is certainly a busy one. Please carefully check the calendar dates and the ones that are applicable to your family. In this newsletter you will find an outline for each year level of what curriculum outcomes they are focussing on this term in the areas of Literacy, Numeracy, Inquiry and Specialist subjects. You will also find important dates, reminders and how you can support your child’s learning.
Please see below for a tribute to Daniel Vella from our School Council President, Stephen Gill.
A message from Stephen Gill - School Council President
Being the Principal of a small-town primary school is probably one of the toughest, yet most rewarding jobs around – at least, that’s what I’ve come to believe over the last six years working with Daniel Vella as part of my involvement with the School Council. Overseeing the growth and development of 500 children is an awesome task. Each day brings new rewards and challenges. Nothing stands still. Each child is different, and so is their family.
I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Daniel as school council president. From my vantage point, I’ve seen Daniel bring his heart and soul to the task of leading our school community. He genuinely wants our students to thrive in the fullness of school life, not just academically but also as young people finding themselves and their way in life. Daniel has been a visible leader, out in the schoolyard, chatting with kids, and knowing each by name. Leading the school, making endless decisions both big and small, and being the point where the buck stops is not a light burden to carry. Yet, Daniel has done this with a smile on his face and a sense of gratitude for the opportunity to do something good for our kids.
As Daniel bids us farewell, I’d like to acknowledge his contribution to our school and community, and the legacy he leaves. On behalf of School Council, I wish Daniel all the very best for his next adventure.
Stephen Gill
