Assistant Principal's Report

What a busy start we have had to Term 2: House Cross Country, Division Athletics and District Cross Country. Swimming sessions are coming up starting the Week beginning 19th May. Please ensure you have consented on Compass and provided relevant information to teachers.
We had around 50 families attend our information night last Tuesday for 2026 Foundation. Thank you to Sally Kilpatrick (Foundation Leader) and Georgia Thomas (Foundation teacher) as well as our school captains who spoke about their journey since starting at Warrnambool East and some of their memories. Aleesha and the Hands on Learning group made some yummy goodies for parents to taste. It was a great opportunity to showcase our school and we are very proud of all that we do.
During this week and next week we have school tours 9.30-10.30 Monday / Wednesday/Friday for families thinking about sending their little people to our school. Enrolments are now open. If you have a sibling of a child already at our school, please remember to enrol so we can establish final numbers and begin to plan for classes in 2026.
Mother's Day is a celebration honouring mothers of the family and/or the significant person whom with children have a special bond. We invite mothers and significant/special people to spend time in students’ classrooms tomorrow (Friday) 2.20-3.20. We look forward to seeing you there and hope that you celebrate this weekend in any way that makes you feel joy and connectedness to your family.
Education Week
In Victoria, Education Week 2025 will be celebrated from May 19th to May 23rd. The theme for this year is "Celebration of Cultures", highlighting the diversity of communities and the importance of inclusivity. All children deserve a place to learn and thrive in and we are proud of providing this opportunity for all our students at WEPS. We believe every week at WEPS is celebrated as education week. We are in the planning stages of an afternoon gathering to connect with our EAL (English as an Additional Language) families and will send out details in the coming days. Our Community Project Leaders also have a project they are working on which celebrates and shines the light on our multicultural school – stay tuned.
