YEAR 11 CAMP: Phillip Island Adventure
BY DANIEL DEMA (YEAR 11 & 12 COORDINATOR)
Earlier this month, we had our Year 11 camp at the Phillip Island Adventure Resort.
Camps offer a great opportunity for nurturing teamwork and building positive relationships outside the classroom. Surrounded by a beautiful environment, our activities ranged from fun challenges like the giant swing and twin flying fox to the strategic excitement of laser strike and the very popular surfing lessons. We also tested our aim in archery and worked together in team rescue. We can proudly report that all dummies were safely transported to the designated area.
Evenings brought a different kind of fun. One highlight was our visit to A Maze’n Things, where we walked from one mystery room to another, played mini golf, and got lost (and found) in the maze. Another was our trivia night, brilliantly hosted by Mr. Grace and Mr. Turko, with Mrs. Fatur and Mrs. Rajulu keeping everyone in line as judges. We also appreciated Mrs. Robertson’s heartfelt devotion, reminding us that we are each specially created by God.
Special thanks go to Mr. Kenny, whose experience on camps has once again proven invaluable, and, of course, to Mrs. Farrand, who organised everything and looked after all of us. We want to also thank the camp staff for making our stay so enjoyable. We appreciated being able to spend this time with our students, talking less about homework and more about what their interests and plans for the future are. The camp was a true success, filled with laughter, teamwork and great memories.
