NEW LOOK NEWSLETTER

Dear Meadows Primary School Community we are excited to introduce the new look of our school newsletter! This refresh design offers a more modern and vibrant appearance, making it easier for everyone to stay connected and informed. The newsletter can now be accessed in over 100 different languages - simply choose your preferred language and the information will automatically be translated for you to read it in your own language. 

In addition, the new format includes photos and attachments of important documents that you can easily view by clicking on them. The bright and engaging layout aims to enhance your reading experience and ensure you receive all the latest news and updates from our school. We will have more to share in future newsletters as we continue to evolve.

Families will receive a link to the new newsletter through compass and or Dojo, making it simple to access anytime, anywhere. We hope you enjoy this new way of staying connected with meadows primary school. 

WELCOME BACK

Firstly, I want to thank all families, students and staff for their support  as I settled into term one this year. I am thrilled to be here serving the Meadows Primary School Community for yet another term. I feel blessed and very grateful. Thank you. 

I sincerely hope our families enjoyed the term break with their children, making the most of the last little bit of sunshine and warm days before autumn and winter set in. Cherishing moments with our children is one of the most valuable gifts we can give. Spending quality time together helps build strong bonds, create lasting memories, and nurtures the growth and happiness in your children. Making time for conversations, fun, and she experiences are the foundations of a confident and well-rounded child. I encourage you as parents and carers to continue to spend quality time and make beautiful memories with your children because these are what stays with your children for a lifetime. 

I enjoyed sometime catching up with my family including spending lots of quality time with my beautiful parents. I was able to complete a few odd jobs around my home and get into my garden which is my happy place. However, I was excited to come back and very happy to see so many of the children and families sharing the same excitement to be back at school.

I'm looking forward to another productive term building more positive relationships and positive changes.

STAFFING NEWS UPDATE

Throughout school community I would like to inform you that assistant principal Nicole O’Meara has made the decision to resign from her position at meadows primary school. We sincerely thank Nicole for her dedication and commitment, particularly in the wellbeing space, where she has tirelessly supported our students and families. We wish Nicole all the best in her future endeavours and are grateful for her valuable contributions to our school community. 

ANZAC DAY COMMEMERATION 

I would like to acknowledge the 25th of April Anzac Day which took place in week one this term.

Learning about and remembering the soldiers and men and women who served in various ways during the war is important to ensure that a significant part of history is not forgotten. Commemorating ANZAC Day helps us to reflect on the cost of war and its impact on individuals, families and whole communities. 

Coming together on ANZAC unite us as a community as we remember the fallen. While we remember their courage, let us also reflect on the true cost of war and commit to working towards peace. May we honour their memory by striving for a world where conflict is replaced with understanding and harmony.  

AUTISM AWARENESS MONTH

More than 205,000 Australians are autistic and one in four Australians have a family member on the autism spectrum. The month of April marks World Autism Month, beginning with the world Autism Awareness Day which was held on April 2nd.

World Autism Awareness/Acceptance Day was created to appreciate and acknowledge the contributions that autistic people have made to our communities. This day is important for creating supportive, accepting, and inclusive environments for people with autism. Advocating for inclusion an integration of autistic and neurodivergent individuals within SoC is the primary goal of autism awareness month, as well as advocation for recognition within our society. 

As a school, MPS is committed to creating an inclusive community for everyone. Staff continued to build a knowledge and skills to ensure students with autism can access and participate in learning and schooling on the same basis as students without special needs. 

ANNUAL REPORT

It is a legislative requirement that all Victorian government schools prepare an Annual Report and includes specific information on student outcomes, attendance and financial activities.

The MPS Annual Report to School Community ahs been completed and endorsed by school Council. It provides an opportunity to share the school’s achievements and progress with our school. 

You will see that the Annual Report to Community is prepared in two parts. 

1) The performance summary, which details the school’s performance from the past year (2024) and trends over time. 

2) The ‘About our school’ commentary, which outlines the achievements of the school in the previous year (2024).
