Friday Lunchtime STEM Clubs

Last Friday, we had our first Friday Lunchtime STEM Club for Term Two.  The banner photo shows some students joining in at the LEGO table. Thank you to the STEM Student Action Team, who have been assisting with brainstorming ideas for this term. I particularly thank Alex (6T), who has volunteered to host a Kahoot competition for one of the upcoming STEM Clubs.

The STEM room will be open on Fridays during the second break.

PenPal Update

Over the Easter break, the Year 5 students received more letters from their Colombian pen pals. Discovering the similarities and differences between our Year 5 students and our Colombian friends has been interesting. Sports and video games seem universally popular, no matter where you grow up. Several penpals shared that Santa Marta (the city where our Pen Pals are from) will celebrate its 500th anniversary this July.

The Year 5 students are now busy composing their reply messages, which will be sent when they return from camp.

Last week, I was also surprised to receive three unexpected pen pal letters from Liberty Elementary in Utah (USA). I will be looking for some students this week to help me respond.

Seesaw

At St John's, we use the Seesaw app to capture and share student learning, communicate with families, and support students in reflecting on their progress in creative and engaging ways. If you're new to the app or unsure how to use it, this video explains the settings and key features to help you get started.
