Mr Brendan
This term in Inquiry we will be learning about the importance of Water with our unit on Harmony with H2O. We have begun immersing ourselves in our unit and have been looking at ways to save water in our bathroom, laundry, kitchen, garden and school. We looked into renewable and non-renewable energy sources and the concept of the word sustainable. On Monday and Tuesday we completed two small experiments to learn about the water cycle
To integrate our Inquiry and Education in Faith lessons we will be placing an emphasis on learning about stories from the Bible that feature water. Some of these stories will include Jesus Walks on Water, Jesus Calms the Storm, Noah's Ark, Water into Wine and the Baptism of Jesus. Water is such an important element within the Bible, so we will look at it's symbolism and importance in different ways. This will also tie in with the Catholic Social Teaching of Preferential Option for the Poor. As the term progresses we will begin to explore the Sacrament of Holy Communion.
What a great morning we had celebrating our Mums, Grandmas and special ladies! Happy Mother's Day to all our wonderful Mums.
This past fortnight we have been learning about fractions. We have been identifying fractions in shapes, objects and collections. We have been using fractions to problem solve and combining small fractions with the same denominator to make one whole.
Happy Mother's Day!
Kind regards,
Mr Brendan, Ms Kim and Ms Sue.
