Welcome Back!
A big welcome back to the entire Scotsburn community after the Easter break. We hope that everyone enjoyed some time together with family and friends, and are ready and raring for an exciting Term 2 ahead. As always, we have lots planned for the term and we can’t wait to get stuck into it. We look forward to seeing everyone throughout this week - pop in and see us when you get the chance!
School Photos - Tuesday 29th April (start at Buninyong)
The Scotsburn day for school photos next week, will be Tuesday 29th April. We ask that students start the day at the Buninyong Campus, where we will get our individual, class and family photos taken, and then bus back up to Scotsburn at recess. We will then finish the day at Scotsburn.
Please check Compass for photo ordering.
Japan Day - Friday 2nd May (whole day at Buninyong)
A reminder that Japanese Day is fast approaching - next Friday 2nd May! This is always a highlight on the calendar, with lots of cultural fun to be had throughout the day. A reminder that this day will be a drop off and pick up at Buninyong, with a whole school assembly in the morning.
Mother’s Day Stall - Thursday 8th May
Our annual Scotsburn Mother’s Day stall is back! This is an opportunity for our students to express and learn more about gratitude, as well as giving thanks to the Mums or other significant people in their lives.
All gifts are $5, with students having the opportunity to purchase one or two gifts. Don’t forget to send some money along with your child on this day.
We have an assortment of items to choose from that the students think our Mums would like… we can’t give too many clues away!
Mother’s Day Breakfast - Thursday 8th May
As was the case last year, we are planning to celebrate all of our wonderful mothers in the community with a Mothers’ Day Breakfast. This special occasion will take place on Thursday 8th May, between 8:15am and 9:30am in the old building, Scotsburn. No need to bring anything, we will have all food and drink sorted, celebrating all of the wonderful contributions our mothers’ and special friends play in our lives.
Upcoming Plans in the Yard
Early this term, we are looking to spend some dedicated time in and around the veggie patch, getting it back up and running as a functional space for both the students and the wider Scotsburn community. A starting point has been to replace the rotting timber garden beds with metal ones, as well as take down the broken greenhouse plastic cover.
This term, we will also be lucky enough to have Ian Rossiter back on board to help coordinate some of these works, with the help from our parent community. Our first step will be to plan out the specific jobs that need to be done, and then set some dates for some small “working bees”. Keep an eye out in the newsletter over the coming weeks for these dates, as we would love all of the help that we can get!
Once this space is up and running, we would love it to be a community managed space, that everyone has ownership and use of.
Fresh Paint on the Old Building
Over the holidays, we had some painting works take place on the old building. All of the maroon trimmings were given a facelift, which looks great! Over the next few weeks, we will give the rest of the exterior surface a big clean.
Drop offs and Pickups
Just a reminder that at the busy times of drop offs and pickups, it is good practise to enter at Platts road and exit the car park via the Scotsburn Hall service road, which the Buninyong end. This will assist with a smoother process at these times and ensure the buses have no head on traffic. Thank you for your assistance with this.
Specialist News
Please make sure that everyone brings a spare pair of runners for PE on Thursdays, particularly as we head into the colder months.
Scotsburn Intercampus Travel At times, Scotsburn students will be transported between campuses in order to attend classes, assemblies, special days and events. On most occasions, transport required through the day will be by bus and occasionally private car for smaller groups of students. Parents may be asked to drop off or collect from the Buninyong campus if sessions are at the beginning or ending of a day.
We will always let you know of any upcoming travel arrangements via our newsletter, Compass, or via phone for smaller, more specific travel arrangements.
If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding intercampus travel, please contact your child’s teacher. |
