The Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge is once again open for 2025 and will remain open until September 5th.
How to sign up:
Logging in with a Challenge passcode:
Teachers have provided students with their log-in details on a sticker that has been stuck in the home reading diary/student diary. Please see your child’s classroom teacher if you have any queries about logging in, or you can’t find the log in details.
Go to the Challenge application.
- Select the School/Student button.
- Select the VPRC login option.
- Enter your username and password.
- Select Login.
Students can log books read and also post reviews of books read. All students who participate and complete the Premiers’ Reading Challenge will receive a certificate in Term 4 to recognise their achievement.
TEACHING AND LEARNING PRIORITIES
As we commence the new term, it is important to reflect on our priorities and what we are striving to achieve in 2025 and beyond. In terms of teaching and learning, those priorities are:
- Ensuring that learning time is purposeful and well-paced
- Implementing the practice of explicit instruction in the teaching of both literacy and numeracy in years P-6
- Ensuring that book work is of a high standard (see some exemplar student samples below)
TERM 2 REPORTING
This term as part of our reporting to parents and carers, each student will be provided with a written report detailing their progress from classroom and specialist teachers. An opportunity for a parent-teacher interview will also be provided. Please see the dates for these below.
We also remind parents and carers that these formal reporting processes are not the only opportunity that you have to find out about your child’s progress- we encourage parents and carers to contact your child’s classroom or specialist teachers at any time throughout the term if you wish to discuss your child’s progress. The best way to set up a time to talk is via email or via the staff member’s contact in the Compass platform. If you are unsure how to do this, please reach out to the staff in the front office for assistance.
