Principal's Report

Term 2 Begins

Welcome Back to everyone and we hope you had an enjoyable break.  The weather was brilliant for the entire fortnight, and hope you had the opportunity to take full advantage of that.

Ms Joy’s Retirement

The final day of term 1 was the last for Ms Joy after 40 years in education.  We thank Ms Joy for her efforts over 19 years at Buninyong PS wish her all the best in retirement.  We took the opportunity on her last day to acknowledge her contribution at assembly and then had a nice gathering after school, which included close family and friends.  Joy thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated everyone's kind words and best wishes as she heads into the next phase of her life.

Congratulations Armani

Those watching coverage of the Stawell Gift yesterday might have noticed Armani Anderson, past Buninyong PS student and older sister of Isla (currently in 2AA) and Aisha (currently at secondary school) made the women’s final and ran 4th.  Congratulations to Armani and it was great to see one of our past students do so well in such a prestigious event.

What’s To Expect This Term?

The term 1 calendar was action packed, but this term is looking very different….much quieter.  It’s actually going to be nice to take this opportunity to settle into our learning routines and expectations.

Events on the calendar for this term include:

  • A Book Fair, school photos and Japanese Day next week.
  • A pupil free day on May 16 where staff will visit local schools to build our knowledge and skills with respect to explicit teaching.
  • A Mother's Day breakfast on May 8 and a Mother's Day Stall the following day.
  • Celebrating Education Week from May 12-16
  • The usual array of Inter-school sports for term 2 (AFL, soccer, cross country & netball).
  • Celebrating National Reconciliation Week from May 26-30
  • A continuation of VSSS rehearsals
  • A Sausage Sizzle in week 10
  • Parent Teacher Interviews in the final week of term.

 Facilities Update

As per usual, we had quite a bit going on over the break, making sure our facilities are well maintained and looking good.  Works completed include the following:

  • The carpet was replaced in PPD and PEB….this was well overdue, so presents as a big improvement.  Hopefully we will be in a position to re-carpet PLR & 2RM over the winter break.
  • Work commenced on repairing rotted office windows from PPD, PEB, PLR & 1RM.  This work will continue over the coming week or 2.
  • The Base 1270 room and gym toilets were repainted and are looking great.  The trims of the windows of the old building at Scotsburn were painted and also look great.
  • The foundations were prepared for the hot house that is soon to be installed.  Thanks to the Buninyong Community Bank, who are funding this project.  Hopefully the new hot house will arrive soon, meaning our Ready Set Program will be able to continue their vegetable growing and plant propagation over the winter months.
