A note from our Learning Specialists

Ms McDonald and Ms Soutar

Professional development for teachers is crucial for keeping up to date with the latest educational research and methodologies. WIth this in mind, Kunyung Primary School teachers came to visit our classrooms last week commenting that they observed a high level of practice and have chosen some ideas to take back to their school.

Miss McDonald, Ms Soutar and Mr Jellie also attended Chelsea Primary School on Monday to observe their practice of engagement, participation and immediate feedback to students on their learning through the use of mini whiteboards.

All our classrooms at Langwarrin Primary school now have class sets of mini whiteboards which will be used during lessons throughout the day.

Mini whiteboards encourage active participation and engagement from all students. With a whiteboard in hand, every child has the opportunity to express their thoughts, ideas, and solutions. This promotes a supportive learning environment where students have increased opportunities to practice and participate in new skills and activities.

One of the greatest advantages of mini whiteboards is the instant feedback they provide. Teachers can quickly assess students' understanding by observing their responses on the whiteboards. This allows for timely interventions and adjustments to teaching strategies to address any misconceptions or areas of difficulty before they become ingrained. Immediate feedback is crucial for effective learning and helps students stay on track with their progress.

Mini whiteboards are more than just simple tools; they are powerful instruments for enhancing learning experiences and promoting student success. We are excited to incorporate them into our classrooms and witnessing the positive impact they have on our students' learning journeys.
