Letter from our Principal

Welcome to our 2023 Pilgrim School Annual Report, an opportunity to reflect and report, as well as celebrate our community’s wonderful journey over the past year. Here you will find the essence of our vibrant community - a tapestry woven with love, dedication, and the unwavering belief in every child's potential.

At Pilgrim School, we know that education is about more than just academics. It is about nurturing the whole child - mind, body, and spirit. That is why 2023 saw a specific and targeted approach to grow and develop the wellbeing for students, staff, and families. The extra support and resources we have invested in this area have assisted to further enhance our nurturing environment where every child feels seen, valued, and ready to embrace life's journey. Including Lola, our wellbeing dog, on the staff team, wellbeing days and introducing the Fathering Project are just a few ideas we integrated into our community.

I am incredibly grateful for the wonderful staff team at Pilgrim School - from the enthusiastic educators who light up the classroom, to the administrative team who keep our ship sailing smoothly, and our dedicated Education Support Officers in the Inclusive Education team whose kindness and support nurture our students' dreams. It also encompasses our grounds team who tend to our environment with care and pride, creating a welcoming environment where everybody can belong. Our school is supported and enabled through our School Board and fantastic leadership team. Their vision, guidance, and tireless dedication enables us to strive towards excellence in primary education. With their support, our staff can dream big, innovate fearlessly, and put our students' needs first.

Every member plays a vital role in shaping our school and influencing each child in our care. Together, we are more than colleagues; we're a family united by a shared mission and dedication.

Thank you to our cherished parents and caregivers - the cornerstone of our community. Their unwavering support, involvement, and trust fuel our journey, reminding us that we are in this together. For many families, the decision to join our community comes at personal cost and sacrifice. With their partnership, we are not just building a school; we are cultivating a village where everyone belongs and thrives.

Now, take a moment to look around - see how we have grown! From refreshed, refurbished, and updated facilities and expanded resources, together we have created new opportunities for our students to explore, learn, and grow. Whether it is in the classroom, on the playground, or out in the community, we are empowering our students to spread their wings and fly.

This year saw the significant work of reroofing the Pilgrim building and modernising all the air conditioning including adding fresh air inlets. This was a mammoth task that meant the ongoing moving of classrooms and staff to accommodate the various stages of internal and external building work that occurred. We are appreciative to all our community for their flexibility, goodwill and support during this elongated process and together celebrated the project's final conclusion and the improved facilities this has provided for all.

In His service,

Andrew Edmondson
