Prep News

Mrs Jo Towill

The Prep classroom is always a busy learning space. We participated in the 2024 National Simultaneous Storytime session where our students were part of 2 million students who listened to Australian author Aura Parker read her picture story book ‘Bowerbird Blues’ to the audience around Australia at the same time.  We then made bowers with our Grade 5/6 Buddies.

In our English unit we are learning about Fairy Tales. Our first book is The Three Billy Goats Gruff. We have been learning words like lush, meadow, hooves, buck, doe, kid, stamped, rammed, troll and learning about narrative texts, characters, settings, beginning, middle and end, compare and contrast, story maps, sequencing, and adjectives. Students have role played the story, completed directed drawings, made stick puppets and retold the story.

In Maths we have been learning about addition and subtraction. We are learning a variety of strategies to assist us with practical situations to model addition and subtraction

TwistED Science

We were VERY excited to attend our first excursion. The TwistEd Science education centre was SO much fun! The students were able to participate in a large range of science based play involving gravity, push/pull, observations, twist/turn and experiments using a variety of household items which changed water into different colours and textures. We all had a fantastic day! It was great to attend as a whole school.
