It was lovely to welcome back staff and students from a restful term break. During our staff 'Workbreak' we had the opportunity to welcome Sam Burrows from Christian Education National to speak to our staff on the crossroad of our faith and the culture we are a part of. It’s important for us, as Christian staff to wrestle regularly with how we can be counter cultural in relation to what society suggests is 'right' and 'normal'. This is not to suggest that culture is bad. On the contrary, there are many things in relation to culture that we can celebrate and enjoy, but it’s always important to be discerning. One of those things we need to be discerning about, is the new progressions in Artificial Intelligence. We also had Sam unpacking our responses to that in some very vibrant conversations.

It was fun to start the beginning of term with our MECS open evening, 'Lit Up'. It was beautiful to see the school lit up with light and colour (including lots of fluro) and we were thrilled with the support of current families and all of the visiting families. If you missed the event, it was definitely a fun evening. My personal highlight was seeing many of our staff practicing their dance moves at the silent disco!

Parent Teacher interviews were held for Primary parents at the end of Term 1 and for Secondary parents, at the start of this term. Thanks to those parents who made good use of this time, to celebrate their children’s learning and get some insight into areas of improvement. Interviews are a great way for us to partner together.

Last weekend, there was a very productive Working Bee, where lots of pruning, drain cleaning, wall washing and pressure cleaning was achieved. We were grateful for the sun on a lovely Autumn day! Thanks to all those who attended.

I’m looking forward to an ongoing positive term!

Cheers, Michelle
