Primary Tribal Cross Country
The sun was out, the many weeks of training completed and the coloured powder was ready to explode. Our Primary Tribal Cross Country day is an annual highlight for our school and this year was no exception. Cross Country day is a day for our community to come together, celebrate our students and their persistence, tenacity and running giftings and reflect on and enjoy God’s provisions for our school.
Also, a massive congratulations and shout out to the MECS community for helping raise $4,987. It is great to have an event help raise awareness for important programs and causes around Australia. This helped support:
Coral Planting: 18 Corals
Turtle Protecting: 134 Turtles
Tree Planting: 4 Trees
Meals: 354 Meals
Reading Support: 28 Books
The results this year were a close one, just preventing Wirri from winning a 5th consecutive Cross Country.
1st: Kaja - 262
2nd: Wirri - 237
3rd: Jarra - 225
4th: Mani - 161

CSEN Senior Rally Day
Tuesday 26 March saw the first CSEN Senior Rally Day held for the Year 11 & 12 students. MECS sent teams to compete in Girls Volleyball (3 Teams), Boys Basketball (2 Teams) and a Boys Indoor Cricket Team.
In the girls Volleyball, our division 1 team performed extremely well making the semi finals before just falling short against the eventual champions by only 3 points in the semi. Our division 2 team started the day well finishing 5th and our division 3 team really enjoyed the day having a lot of fun.
In the Basketball, the boys started strong but unfortunately could not quite get enough wins during the group stage to progress to the semi finals. However, they performed well and displayed a lot of good skills.
The Indoor Cricket team also had a great day making it to the third place playoff match. Overall, it was a positive and successful day for MECS.
We look forward to what the rally day in Term 2 holds for MECS.
