News from Years 10 - 12

Outdoor Ed

In 2024, we have implemented Outdoor Education as an elective for Year 10 students. As part of this program, students are undertaking the Duke of Edinburgh award. This includes a section titled 'Adventurous Journey'. As part of this program, students learn the skills required to plan and organise what they need for an Adventurous Journey. On 22 & 23 April, the class went out to the Cathedral Ranges for two, one-day hikes. There were many challenges but the students learned along the way and noted that it was a highlight of their week. We look forward to seeing them being able to put more skills into action as the year progresses.

Queen Victoria Market Excursion

Here are some thoughts from the Year 11 students about their excursion.

Something I learned about operating a business in the Queen Victoria Market is that you have to take a lot of risks, with potential competitors and maintaining fresh or high-quality goods.

Spencer Noel

I really appreciate that most businesses are all family businesses, and that there are lots of options and looks like a great community.

Max Dempsey

One thing I appreciate about running a business at QVM is that it’s all multicultural/different stores: Italian, French, Polish and some others.

Samuel Za Thang

Something I learned from the QVM excursion was that operating a business requires a strong level of dedication and resilience towards running a successful business.

I appreciate that the deli and meat section use FRESH materials and gives the highest quality to their customers.

Year 11 Biology Excursion

On Tuesday 19 March, our Year 11 Biology students had the wonderful opportunity to go down to Queenscliff and partake in a snorkelling excursion. The long drive and the inclement weather did not stop our students from enjoying some wonderful time snorkelling the reef off Queenscliff harbour and enjoying the beautiful variety of fish and marine life found in our reefs. Our instructors shared their valuable insights into the structure of Port Phillip Bay, it’s marine inhabitants and the importance of ensuring sustainability in our waters for the sake of ecosystem. Students got to enjoy a number of water activities as well and overall it continues to be a blessing for students who are learning biology and God’s beautiful creation to be fully immersed in it.
