Kids Helpline Sessions

A message from the Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader

As part of the Social and Emotional Wellbeing program at Castlemaine Primary School, I have organised the following Kids Helpline sessions for Term 2:

Grades Prep/1: Friendship – Wednesday 24th April, 9.30am – 10.30am

Students will learn what a friend is, how to make friends, and that it is OK to play with different people.

Grades 5/6: Unlocking Your Inner Leader – Tuesday 30th April, 10am – 11am

Students will learn about leadership strengths and qualities, some well-known examples of leaders in the world, active listening skills, and that you do not need to have a badge or been in an official leadership position to demonstrate leadership.

Grade 2: Friendship – Thursday 2nd May, 2.30pm – 3.30pm

Students will learn friendship qualities, positive communication skills, and how to manage conflicts that may arise in friendships.

Qualified Kids Helpline @ School counsellors use videoconferencing technology to run education sessions about coping strategies, digital safety and citizenship, emotional literacy, help-seeking behaviours and resilience building. The program is available to all Australian primary schools and is funded by yourtown and Bupa Australia. Online sessions are fun and interactive, and topics align with the Australian Primary School Curriculum.

No personal or demographic student data is captured when participating in the sessions or the feedback survey.

Notes have been sent out this week to all students in Prep/1, 2, and 5/6 classes with information. If you DO NOT want your child to participate in the Kids Helpline session, please complete the opt-out section of the note that was sent home and return it to your child’s classroom teacher asap. Otherwise, it will be assumed that you are happy for your child to participate.
