School Update

We acknowledge and extend our appreciation to the Dja Dja Wurrung People, the Traditional Owners of the land where we learn, work, and play.

Change is required for things to grow and its an unavoidable and natural part of life. It doesn’t however mean that change is always easy. Teachers spend day after day with children forming relationships and moving on during the school year can be one of the greatest challenges a teacher can experience as relationships affect teachers every bit as much as they may affect children.

The school system works like all other workplaces. When a need arises, a school must seek out new staff. At present, all schools are experiencing a teacher shortage, so replacement staff currently tend to be filled by teachers from other schools, rather than new teachers moving into the education system.

During the term break, our P-1 teacher Demy applied for a school position in Bendigo where she lives. Being the wonderful teacher she is, she was the successful applicant. Demy will take up a contract position at Quarry Hill PS commencing Monday 29th April. We’re currently in the process of advertising for another teacher, and this process will take a few weeks. Sheree Gallegher, a casual teacher who is very well-known to all the P-1 children will work in the P-1 class while we complete this process.

Demy has been with us for 6 years and we have really enjoyed working with her in that time. Her move is motivated by a desire to gain a better work-life balance by reducing both the time and kilometers traveled every day. We wish Demy every success in her new school. Demy's last day will be on Wednesday 24th April.

Doors close, and doors will open. Congratulations to Demy as she commences a new stage in her career, and as soon as we have a new incoming teacher to join our ranks, we will let you know.
